Tex. Liberty-Eylau - 37 Kennedale - 19
TYLER – Michael Reed rushed for 176 yards and two touchdowns as Texarkana Liberty-Eylau rolled to a Class 3A Division I Region II final victory over Kennedale at Tyler's Rose Stadium.
After a scoreless first quarter, Reed scored from 7 and 18 yards out in the second quarter on his way to 106 first-half yards. Quarterback Will Middlebrooks added two second half rushing touchdowns for Liberty-Eylau, who rolled up 244 yards rushing and 22 first downs.
Kennedale (9-3) came in averaging 283 rushing yards per game but was held to just 139 yards on 40 carries. J.J. Petty scored from three yards out and Lance Canter from 1-yard out and were led by Mickey Norris' 66 yards on 15 carries.
Liberty-Eylau (10-2) advances to face the winner of Abilene Wylie and Gainesville in the state semifinals next week, the farthest they have reached since winning the 1999 Class 3A state championship.
