that 7 gainesville gave up was on a fair catch kick-off return. yeah, i asked the same thing, how did the refs miss that one. the defense hasn't been scored on yet in the playoffs.

Not irrelevant, just the reason why they are still playing.

These top performers are the same state leaders all season in those catagories.

at this point. very irrelevant is the point that gilmer outscored everybody on your list, and all we got to show for it is a trip to the hacienda.:)

Bridge City put in mutiple substitutions in the second half of the first game of the playoffs. That's where the 20 points came from. Otherwise it would read "0"

i'm sure all, or most, teams subbed liberally once they were well ahead ...

gilmer should have subbed some defensive backs. maybe one of them MIGHT have knocked down a pass.

That is interesting data. In the case that Bridge City had that team 35-0 early on and played everybody on the sideline and I am sure some others were doing the same to try to hold down injury risk possibilites. Could it be possible to run the same data through and see how the stats stack up for the FIRST HALF of play--it might be a little more meaningful data to ponder.
Thank you!

Well, in that case Old Card, IP would have only given up 7 as the backups gave up 6 in round 1 and the JV (below the backups) gave up 7 last week.

Interesting Green Monster--What were the scores at halftime on your two games?

In our case I think it was 14-0 against Jasper and I believe 35-0 against Cleveland. Pretty good defensive stats, not bad offensively considering Jasper was a State Finalist the previous year.

let's just look at the first half scores all season since every one claims that the backups are in after half.

Gainesville has allowed 10 points in the first half the entire year, playoffs included.

I agree HighSchoolFan it makes a lot more sense in portraying the better team outputs.
For the purpose of playoff predictions info it might be better to use only the two playoff encounters

Could someone give us the data for the first half output for all these teams. Please

Liberty Hill:
PF - 62
PA - 20

(fyi - only 7 points have been scored in the 2nd half through 2 games and none in the 4th qtr)

We also had shutouts at the half in both games.

Combined scores at the half for first 2 rounds
BC 42-0
WOS 35-20
Kirbyville 49-12
Cameron 27-13

That's all I have immediate access to

OK we are finally getting some meaningful data:
LH was 62-20 and BC was 42-0 they are tied
Give us the scores at half time Mr Greenwood and we will have started getting in some of the data to compare..

Paratrooper, you seem to always be able to give out data; can you get the win points to opponents point for the first halfs of play on the remaining teams and then we will subtract the two for the delta figure.

Yeah but if BC had played Jasper's team from last year we wouldn't be talking about BC stats at this point though would we. :D

BC has a fine ballclub this year. Will take a very talented and well coached team to beat you guys.

I don't think it's very meaningful to compare two games like that when every single team had completely different opponents of vastly differing strengths.
Looking at the combined win-loss records of the first two playoff opponents entering the games the best and worst records are:

1. Kirbyville 18-1
2. Giddings 18-2
3. Hutto 17-2

22. Emory Rains 12-8
23. Dallas Madison 12-9
24. Devine 9-11

Kirbyville played an unbeaten state ranked team and a team that had only lost one game way back at the beginning of September, whereas both teams Devine played had losing records.

If you look at the combined records of the first Three rounds the gap grows even wider:
1. Kirbyville 30-1
2. Giddings 29-2
3. Hondo 28-4
...and tied for last
Sweetwater 19-13 and Devine 19-13

Woulda, coulda, shoulda........ i was being quite sarcastic. you on the other hand were not. we got beat, i'm cool with that. i will be very interested to see how you react if and when you go down. remember, region 1 does get a few licks in in the semi's but i would say for the most part region 2 takes ya'll out. good luck!!!!!!!!
