What are the numbers like in Sweetwater? Is there any chance the Mustangs go back to 4A in one of the next few realignments? I have no idea and was just wondering.

We're somewhere around 11,000 - 12,000 (rough count), but I think we're getting some of the hurricane victims from New Orleans.

I've heard rumors that we're going to have around 3,000 people coming, but that's just a rumor..

Chance we'll be 4A? I doubt it. People have been saying we might go to 4A "Next Year" for the past 10-15 years...

Yeah its horrible. The town looks like its tryin to do somethin about the falling POP. so maybe in 3-4 years it will begin to rise a little. even if it does i dont see us in 4a. at least not for a while.

My fault about the 10-15 years ago, I knew it was more recent then that, haha.

I predict a small rise, but nothing real big.

the last time sweetwater was 4A was in 1999. 2000 they had moved to 3A and have been dominating ever since.

we wont go up to 4a. it wont happen. and we may have got a few hurricane ppl but not the 3,000 people that the rumor was talking about.

3A or 4A, Sweetwater will still be a dominate football team. (Ouch that hurt). Just kidding. Sweetwater will always have the athletes. Will they ahve down years where they don't make long playoff runs, yes. But, either way, moving up or staying, I don't see them having any problems having winning seasons and making the playoffs.

Sweetwater moved to AAA starting in 2000 and since that year they have made the playoffs each year and have never played in Division I, the closest team to going AAAA out west is Abilene Wylie.

I'd be more worried about Sweetwater dropping to 2A than ever moving back up to 4A.

I think our enrollment count will actually dip below 600 for the coming year.
We are probably 300 to 400 away from going 4A again, and probably 200+ above dropping to 2A, so I think we will be around in 3A for a long time to come.

They have been very, very good....but dominating? Maybe we have different ideas of what that looks like....I would characterize dominating as at the minimum...winning the outright (no ties) distirct championship multiple years in a row. I would characterize dominating as being the clear "class" of the district over a number of years. In each of their years in 3a they have always been one of the best in the distirct, but they usually have two to three losses per year and often tie other teams for the district trophy. Granted they have had some very tough competition...Wylie and Ballinger the first 2 years and Snyder and Wylie the last few....but they have pretty much been 50/50 against the other good teams in district.....great team....but not dominating yet...IMO.

P.S. Don't take these comments as being disrespectful to Sweetwater...I have been one of your biggest fans the last few years...check my posts...I picked Sweetwater to take the region this year in Division II before the season started.

mightnot be funny but if 3000 people come here.. it might be true..lol...

A BIG THANK YOU TO ZEUS I FOR ONE APPRECIATE WHAT YOU SAID NO MATTER HOW MUCH IT HURT...THANK YOU SIR.

Vet comon now ... be nice and follow the crowd on this one..lol...

Where i work i see a drop in POP every month ... And we dont have a boom then we'll be saying hello to 2A inabout 7-10 years... But if you look all over the state more andmore people are moving to big cities... So we'll see what happens...

The answer to the first question is No Way! Actually we stayed in 4A longer than the numbers would have let us... But with teamslike Snyder and monahans, fort stockton and pecos We're starting to feel back at home in 3A ...
