This is 4a, but I believe that our good friends at Lumberton have never been in the playoffs.

There are quite a few schools that have never been to the playoffs but most of them are brand new schools that have opened in the past 5-10 years....

I don't have the records at hand for 1A but for 2A schools and bigger these are the only ones that have been around more than 10 years and still haven't made it to the playoffs:

5A (1st year of UIL varsity play)
Arlington Bowie - 1975
Houston Northbrook - 1974

4A
Lumberton - 1966
Roma - 1990

3A
Whitesboro - 1911
Nevada Community - 1914 (never in 11-man but they did in 6-man)
Huntington - 1982

2A
Hawley - 1968
Boys Ranch - 1962
Malakoff Cross Roads - 1980

Yes... Hawley lost to Bangs in the 1st round of 2A-Div II.... I knew there was one in there that had made it this year I just couldn't remember which one off the top of my head

I bet the town was excited even if they just went one round.

Cross Roads made it in 2003 went 6-5 and lost to italy.

They have had some tough luck..one year they finished 7-3 qnd sat at home, the other time they finished 6-2-2 and was left out of the playoffs

Makes you wonder if Gainesville staff or abilene wylie staff or ga moore could get whitesboro ever to the playoffs?

that would be interesting for sure. Give 4 successful coaches each a team that has consistently had losing seasons and see which coach turns his program around first. Of course, there would be too many variables but it would be intesting anyway
