I remember back in the 80's (or was it 70's?) when Ralph Sampson played for Virginia and they were always #1 preseason, Gonzaga also beat them each year in the tournament in Hawaii.

FYI, from http://graphics.fansonly.com/photos/schools/md/sports/m-baskbl/auto_pdf/weekly-release.pdf

The Terrapins are 1-1 all-time in the series with
Gonzaga dating back to the first meeting in 1995.
• No. 10 Maryland beat the Bulldogs in the first
meeting, 87-63, on March 16, 1995 in the first round of
the NCAA Tournament in Salt Lake City.
• No. 17 Gonzaga beat the 25th-ranked Terps in the
last meeting, 82-68, on Dec. 6, 2004, in the BB&T
Classic at the MCI Center in Washington, D.C. Bulldog
guard Blake Stepp scored 27 points and Adam Morrison
scored 18 to key a second-half surge that carried
Gonzaga. Stepp hit 7-of-11 three-pointers and had 11
assists as the Bulldogs used a 10-0 run to open the
second half and never trailed again. Nik Caner-Medley
paced the Terps with 16 points.
• The Terps are 5-1 all-time against the West Coast
Conference and head coach Gary Williams sports a
4-1 record all-time vs. WCC teams.

I am a big time Gonzaga fan I hope they can play a little bit better in the second half and pull this game out.
