Dang. What a great game. No regrets for us, we left it all out on the field tonight. Wylie was everything they were said to be and more, and we flat out played throughout that game. Both teams had a few mess-ups here and there, so it's not as if we can say this or that lost us the game. We went for it on 4th and short because we were playing that game to win, and if we had gotten the first, it would have been the nail in the coffin. Keenum and Edwards played great, made probably every play on offense. Congrats to Wylie, but if I can make on statement on our behalf, I'll say this: I think we finally earned some respect for ourselves up here, and for our program. We gave them everything they wanted and more, and could have come out on top just as easily as they did. Congrats on a great season Canyon, and to the winnningest senior class in school history, at 21-3 the past two years.

just got back from Lubbock... that was a hell of a game. Anybody that disrespects the Eagles is blowing smoke where the sun don't shine. they are darn good. a few points:
1) on the last drive, the Eagles used the spread offense with short passes to move the ball EASILY; then ran 4 straight RUNNING plays to turn the ball over on downs. WTH!!!!!!! DANCE WITH WHAT BRUNG YA!
2) That Edwards fellow is the fastest back I've seen since DaBryan Blanton. He was Wylie's offense today.
3) Canyon inexplicably implodes on their last offensive series; QB turns tail and loses 30 yards on the 1st play... otherwise, he did a fine job; ran the spread better than Kody Wazzisface did today for Tech.
4) Wylie tightned up and got down when the going got tough... that shows their playoff experience and heart. Great job, Bulldogs. you pulled it out when you had to.
5) Oh and the dirty Wylie player #54 should have been ejected, not just got a 15-yarder, the second time he intentionally jumped off sides and busted the center. He got another 15-yarder later in the game on another personal foul. He's a fine player, but that's just bullS**T. We've all read the newspaper article about this little "habit." That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Congrats to the Iggles ona fine season. It's too bad the playoff system set up 2 such fine teams head-on so early.

I don't think you even needed this close game to earn respect. I saw every Wylie game last year and I thought Canyon was as tough as anyone including Decatur and Cuero, not to mention a class program through and through. Anyone that knows anything had to know that Canyon was a serious contender in this match-up.

okay Just got back fromt he game and here are my thoughts:

1.) We were lucky to escape there with the win. Canyon was flat out good! It is sucha huge advantage having someone like Case Keenum under center to keep everyone in the game and focused at the end.

2.) Canyon folks.. your coach cost you the game. All you have to do is kick the field goal and walk out of Lubbock as the team that knocked off the defending state champ. You kicker had one game this year where he kicked 3 from over 40 right? I watched him and pregame very very very good. Kick it and win, let your coaches pride get in the way, you get stuffed and get the high tops out.

Wylie found a way to win which is what good teams do. Now back to practice and get ready to strap em on for the Leopards. Ill be ther with the hard hat and mullet wig! Sayre's sack for a loss of 21 was defensive play of the game. #26 Josh Davis had a block on a kid tonight that was great. I was impressed that the kid came back in next series.

send 'em all

What a game! We played Canyon twice this year and they have one heck of a kicker. What a weapon it is to have someone who can kick a 40 yard FG with ease. I could not believe that Canyon went for it on 4th and short rather than kicking the FG to go up 10. Oh well! Everything happens for a reason! Great games both teams! Good luck Wylie and congrats on a great year Canyon.

Yeah the kickoff return that ended the game was pretty awesome. Of course there was a forward lateral that weas thrown all the way across the field that should have been called. The refs did a very good job staying out of the game. I don't know what chapter they were but they did an amazing job.

1) Thanks for the compliments everyone, it makes it a little easier to know that we earned a good deal of respect last night

2) Looking back you could say we should have kicked the field goal. But say we get that first down, then run at least another minute off, or even score a TD to seal it. Either way, I put zero blame on our coaches, that's how we played that entire game, no regrets.

3) Yea that guy knocked the crap out of me. I never saw it coming, just worried about tackling that freakin kid who ran all over us. That Davis kid was a good guy, too, actually apologized for hitting me so hard. I laughed and told him it was a nice hit.

One more thing: There's definitely no need to knock our coaches for a decision like that. Those guys do so much for the players and the program week in and week out. In no way do they deserve to be blamed for a game that just simply got away from us. It's sad that just about everyone in our town and everywhere else is only going to be talking about what we should have done, and not about how great we played and all we accomplished. I have a lot of respect for sandifer, he is a great coach(but he sure did do a whole lot of yelling, mainly at the officials). But there's one thing for sure, i wouldn't trade any of my coaches for a single one of theirs. Great game, we lost, good luck against the leopards.

Your right your coaches got you there but they didnt protect your best interests by not kicking that field goal. You guys kick that one and its game pretty much.

As far as you getting up from that hit...   There arent many guys that would have been back in the next series.

Yes he has been doing great things for us all season, relatively unnoticed. The biggest thing that he brings to the table is his running ability, and he is very aggressive in that department. He took quite a few shots yesterday, and delivered a few himself. For as small as he is, he packs a punch, and oh yea, he can throw the ball quite well.

I believe your coach made the right call to go for the first down. Your team was moving the ball at will. I believe a field goal would have been tough with all the noise from the our fans and the kick could have been blocked. Your QB reminds me of Sweetwater's QB from 2003 Carillo. Your QB is quick, hard to catch, and can throw. Your team is the real thing! A much better team than last year. Hope we can play again next year.

Well the way it is set up we will most likely meet again, but sadly ive run out of opportunities against the bulldogs. I think that the Canyon team will be another strong bunch next year, as replacing the four sr receivers won't be as difficult as some might think.
