Emory Rains - 29 Bonham - 22
MESQUITE – Emory Rains overcame a key fumble and scored a pair of late touchdowns to beat Bonham 29-22 in area round action.
Emory Rains (9 - 3) controlled the clock and the ground game, out gaining Bonham (8 - 4) 268 yards to 74 yards rushing for the game.
Bonham had taken a 22 -16 lead with 8:20 left in the fourth quarter on a Cody Lawrence 46 yard run and two point conversion.
Emory Rains answered on their next possession when tight end Jonathan Beasley hauled in a 39 yard touchdown pass from Aaron Potts. Rains missed the extra point for a 22 - 22 tie.
After holding Bonham to three plays and a punt on the ensuing Bonham possession, Rains set up the winning drive at the Bonham 36 yard line.
Emory Rains running back Derek Hurst broke free for a 24 yard run down to the Bonham eight yard line, and scored two plays later on a two yard run by quarterback Aaron Potts.
Tyler Jones led the Rains grounded pack with 105 yards on 19 carries, while Cody Lawrence rushed for 57 yards on 15 carries and a pair of touchdowns to pace Bonham.
