That's right, these two towns separated by about 160 miles of South Texas brush country have a little playoff history coming into Friday's matchup. It will be the fourth time the two teams have squared off in the postseason.

The Bobcats were actually the first victims during each of Ingleside's runs to the state title game, in '62 and '64.

1962
BI-DISTRICT: Ingleside 16..Rio Hondo 6
REGIONALS: Ingleside 6..Blanco 0
QUARTERFINALS: Ingleside 14..Waller 6
SEMIFINALS: Ingleside 14..New London 6
FINALS: Rotan 39..Ingleside 6

1964
BI-DISTRICT: Ingleside 26..Rio Hondo 6
REGIONAL: Ingleside 21..Three Rivers 6
QUARTERFINALS: Ingleside 20..Hull-Daisetta 8
SEMIFINALS: Ingleside 18..Rosebud 0
FINALS: Archer City 13..Ingleside 6

I realized this when I was looking up some info for another thread on Collier-Sharp, so I checked out some of our other playoff appearances. We have a 2-1 record against the Bobcats as of right now.

Looks like Rio Hondo broke a 10 game playoff losing streak with their first win since 1961 last weekend....

Thanks for the info, WOS87. Do you get this stuff off the net or do you research it yourself?

Yeap, RH use to be the best in the district, back in the days. Since PI starting playing football in 1952, they were beating them up, every year until the late 70's, when PI began it's current tradition. RH looks like they are coming back up, thanks in part to their current coaching staff.

I've pretty much gotten most of it on my own and use the stuff that's available on the net as a check to see if there are any errors or mistakes

After seeing Ingleside I think they have a good chance in this game.
They first have to play much better defense against a good Rio Hondo offense. They(Mustangs) have decent talent but need to be a little more aggresive imho.
On offense, Ingleside can score lots of points if they so want to. This is a very young and talented group that has gelled of late. If they can control the clock this game will tilt toward the Mustangs.
.
Rio Hondo is much better than Cotulla and will take this game if Ingleside doesn't play better D.

What you describe of Ingleside, mirrors this year's edition of the PI Tarpons. I see great future match-ups with PI vs Ingleside or Rio Hondo.
