The Canyon Eagles lost their 2nd starting QB in a 22-23 loss to 4A Levelland. Last week their 1st stringer went down with a broken leg, and it appears the 2nd QB may be out with a knee injury. This is a lot of bad luck for what was shaping up to be a stellar Panhandle program this year.
See story from Amarillo paper Canyon loses 2nd QB (http://www.panhandlesports.com/stories/090703/foo_canyon.shtml)

When it rains, it pours! That is quite a shame, I know alot of people were expecting BIG things for Canyon this season. It's very tough to overcome an injury to a player the caliber of Lance McClintock, and then to lose his replacement also is pert near impossible to overcome.

How many 3A schools have more than 2 QB's on the varsity depth chart? Muleshoe had 3 good ones on the 1999-2000 teams, which is most unusual for a school this size (IMHO.) But since then, our starters have been about the only ones who were even remotely capable of handling the job. This year the 2nd QB in line went down with a knee injury in practice. And the starting QB is also the free safety...we just aren't big enough to have the luxury of only playing one way, for the most part.
If our starter went down, I guess we'd have to pull up the JV qb out of the stands!

we here in sinton know the feeling. in one game, we had 4 players go down. 2 concussions, a sprained ankle and a hyperextended knee, i believe.
