STATE CHAMPIONS – In a record-setting performance Saturday in Round Rock, two Wise County high school teams and one individual runner captured UIL cross country state championships. The Decatur boys and girls teams became only the second school in Class 3A history to win both team state championships. Paradise runner Loren Hodges broke a Class 2A time record by two seconds en route to winning the individual gold medal. The Alvord girls team also got on stage by taking third in the Class 1A finals. Northwest was 12th in Class 4A action. Expanded coverage of the area’s spectacular showing at state will be in Thursday’s Messenger.

Congrats to Decatur and some great Wise County kids.
