1. USC (10-0)
W, at California 35-10
next game: Fresno State
When all is said and done, the Trojans will have a 3,000-yard passer, two 1,000-yard rushers and two 1,000-yard receivers. This is an offensive machine of epic proportions. This week will be an interesting test facing a fearless Fresno State team that isn’t going to simply roll over and die just because it’s facing the nation’s number one team.

2. Texas (10-0)
W, Kansas 66-14
next game: at Texas A&M (Nov. 25)
Texas might be the nation’s most complete team now that the receivers are making more and more plays. That was the nation’s No. 1 run defense Texas rolled up 333 rushing yards on when it blew out Kansas, and Vince Young didn’t even run. There are no more worries about who’ll be number two after the Alabama loss; win two more games, and it’s on to Pasadena.

15. West Virginia (8-1)

16. TCU (10-1)
W, UNLV 51-3
next game: BOWL GAME
Fine, so the Horned Frogs haven’t beaten anyone with a pulse (Oklahoma wasn’t nearly as good then as it is now), but the team is still playing at a high enough level to beat just about anyone lower than ninth on this list. It didn’t have to show up for the UNLV game considering the Mountain West title was already in hand, yet it played one of its most complete games this year.

UTEP should not be ranked below A&M.
