Bellville's defense was just no match for the Giddings ground attack. Their quarterback Fitzhenry is outstanding and rushed for something like 260 yards and scored all seven Buff touchdowns. Bellville was hurt by two consecutive kickoffs they failed to field and Giddings recovered and turned the short field into easy touchdowns in the second quarter. But the Giddings ground attack was just brutal.
Bellville came back strong and pretty well scored at will in the second half as well. While Bellville has a good offense, the Giddings defense as well as their passing attack could give them problems in the playoffs when they meet teams that can stop their run. Maybe they can pass, but they hadn't shown much of a passing attack during the season. During the season they may not have had to, but sooner or later someone may be able to stop their ground attack.

I know a few teams that stopped them...
But since I'm all for Giddings goin all the way, I'll keep it a secret! :D

My hats off to Giddings. They played solid football last night. I really think the game was even on talent but for that night the Buff coaching staff were definately the edge.

The first quarter was pretty much a stailmate. The Bellville hit a TD pass. It would be the last time their offense got to snap the ball until late in the first half down 21-7. Excellent job to the Buff coaches for finding an edge and using it.

Congratulations to Giddings on a well-played game and talented team. Brahmas, congratulations on a heck of a season. Hold your heads up, Bellville is proud of you. You played hard till the very end, you left it all on the field. That's all we can ever expect. This is the third Harris I've watched play ball, and I am very proud of Brandon--know his daddy is, too. We moms just want our babies safe. Take the weekend off, lick your wounds, be sad, then show up Monday ready to prepare for next season! That what is all about, guys. Preparation year-round. Best of luck to the Buffs, you should go far. Play hard and stay safe.

Oh, surely not!!! Could that ever be a possibility?? I love halftime to see who comes out with the best plan.

Blame it on the Bellville coaches if you like, but I thought the Brahmas came out in the second half and played with outstanding pride. I thought if Giddings scored on its first second-half possession Bellville wouldn’t be able to come back, but they did.
Bellville had three real bad breaks, and I call them breaks… you may call them something else. The two times they didn’t take care of the kickoff and the interception nullified because of the interference.
If we want to look at that as the difference in the game, just look at what Allan Cooper did for Bellville. First when he stripped Fitzhenry of the ball after he made a run that would have no doubt ended in a Giddings touchdown had the drive continued and then when he stripped the ball from the Giddings defender after the interception that set Bellville up at the eight.
It was Giddings’ superior ground attack that defeated Bellville and they have a good one. How would you have stopped it?
When you have a great big fast fullback like Giddings has and a gifted quarterback the likes of Fitzhenry, it’s hard to stop the veer attack.
Bellville’s little middle linebacker had to commit to the big fullback and when he did the QB pulled it out of his belly and rambled for a lot of yardage. Some coaches move another linebacker into the middle to stop that, but when you do that makes you weaker somewhere else.
Bellville isn’t very big on defense and a lot of teams were able to score on them, but how can you fault their offense?
If there were so many coaching mistakes, please inform me, as I just didn’t see them.
Giddings did exactly what a good running team does and that is to try and keep the ball away from the opponent’s offense. What would you have done to stop it?
I’m not looking for trouble, only interested in another point of view.
I believe the much better team on Friday night won.

It is hard to out coach the Bellville staff. They come prepared and looks like they came out of the halftime with the plan only problem was, like Scotty said, the better team won last night. Will be interesting to see when or if some team is big enough to stop the running attack of Giddings what their air game is like. Hats off to the Bellville staff for getting all they could from their smaller team and what a comeback. 2 or 3 breaks going your way will make a game winning difference. Bellville got those breaks the last 2 games of the season and it just didn't happen last night. They will be back and be bigger and stronger. They just keep coming at you year after year after year.

Punt, not sure what your talking about when you say bellville got the breaks the two games before last night. Bellville dominated Hempstead and pretty much controlled Rice the whole game.

In the Hempstead game Toliver's second quarter td was called back. Had a kid not made a stupid mistake that could have changed the tone of the game. Later in the game the rb td called back due to a call that could have gone either way when Van Duren pushed defender from the side but looked like the back to the ref. Could have made a huge difference in the game. No doubt Bellville played a better game against Rice.

Congratulations to Giddings and good luck in the play offs! I'm pulling for this team to make a run at the state finals. Bellville made a galant come back, but just couldn't stop the powerful run offense of Giddings. This team has size, speed and and a great QB leading a very potent option offense. If they take care of the ball, they could go very far in the play offs.

Bellville coaches did a excellant job, I only disagreed with their depth of coverage on a couple of kick off returns. All year long, they coached a team that lacked size but found ways to beat their opponents. Football is game of match ups and Gidding's size was too much for the smaller Bellville team.

To the Bellville's coaches & players, thanks for a great season! This team plays with great heart and determination, usually defeating more superior and talented teams. Next year, this team will be very good. They will have 3 great classes making up their 2006 roster.

Bellville started 2 seniors on defense and 3 on offense. Their Kicker and Punter were also seniors. The JV was 6-4 (4-1), Freshmen were 10-0 (5-0). 8th grade was 8-0 (5-0) and the 7th grade was 7-1 (5-0). The 8th grade might be the best class EVER! Look out for the BRAHMAS next year....

The 2 plays I mentioned would have reduced that amount by about 100 yards and made a different game. Thats the breaks of the game. Bellville won, period. Both schools can hit the bb court this week.
