Palestine was 0 for forever when Thompson got there, but he turned the program around and he brought in some very good coaches that helped bring Palestine back to a respectable program. As for Peterson, it's my understanding he couldn't pass his classes when Thompson was there.

People always try to spread rumors about Peterson.

Palestine had 3 or 4 straight losing seasons when Thompson took over, but he didn't turn it around, he had a 2-8 season then jumped ship.

Not saying that Thompson isn't a good coach, he just wasn't good for Palestine. After 1 season, Palestine didn't want him and he didn't want to be here, he took a lower job to get out.

2:28 left? I do a high mid-range kick... either you get the ball or ya don't... if you don't, palestine is around the 30-35, if you onside, they're a helluva a lot closer when you think about the points being put up tonight... but the way things are going, one team is bound to 'not score'... for Silsbee, it'd be a good thing for that to happen to Palestine now...

This was a good game if you like offense. Palestine's defense is young (starting only 2 seniors). However, prior to this game they only averaged giving up 22 points. Coach B will have them ready for next week. Offense is averaging over 40 pts a game.

Hats off to Silsbee, especially to number 28.

Tiger90

Great game. IMO the turning point was the face mask penalty in the 3rd. Palestine was stopped and we gave it away. On a night when offenses are clicking and you have an opportunity to make a team punt you can't make mistakes. Palestine has a nice passing attack as well as a 250 + lbs. rb. You get that kid going north/south you are almost guaranteed 4-5 yards. Anyways, heck of a game. Silsbee has found their new qb. He was the difference maker and brought the struggling offense to life. They are a young team and return a lot of starters for next season. Anyways good game and best of luck.

Silsbee has always struggled with the spread. I didn't post in the point spread thread because I was betting on a 39-7 type of score. It most definitely was a pleasant ride home knowing how hard the kids played and what is coming back. Palestine has a very accurate qb and good wrs. He spread the ball nicely to his 3-4 wrs then couple that with a big fast rb and your in for a long night if you can't score as well. As soon as Silsbee changed to the different qb the speed of the game instantly changed. We have been missing that one offensive element all year. I do not know if Palestine had planned on the other qb or if they were just having difficulties. Some may and have questioned why it took so long to find a good option qb in the end it would not have mattered if Silsbee was going in at 10-0, the game would have been against the same team at the same place and time. Palestine was the better team plain and simple. I applaud both teams for their discipline. Very few flags were thrown. I hope they do well this week.

On a side note the mouthing WOS coaches were making against both teams was a tad disturbing. I hope those guys are not overlooking the "Palestinians" as they called them.

Was it some of the coaches scouting? They better cut that out and hope they didn't overlook a team called Huffman. Palestine will be a plateful for any team hoping to get to the next round.

The entire staff was there. They were saying how they will be covering Palestine differently next week. I even made a comment to Hooks. Hook even playfully jabbed back how terrible they were and how they couldn't beat either team last night.

I'm sure they're not overlooking Huffman, but, should they advance, it would be silly of them to have not taken the opportunity to get a live look at their next playoff opponent. I'm sure there were a few Huffman coaches there, as well...

Well, if you would have told me before the game started that my Silsbee Tigers would score 42 points, I would have said we win by a touchdown or two, not lose by 21. Never would I have thought that our defense would give up 63 points to anyone this year. Our defense has been tough for us all year, while our offense has struggled to find themselves. Wouldn't you know it, when our offense finally gets clicking, our defense regresses. It was a very exciting game but one that was definetly not predicted. I marked down Silsbee starters on both sides of the ball and barring anyone moving or quitting, the Tigers will return 7 offensive and 7 defensive starters plus an undefeated JV team. Looks good for next year. Congrats Tigers, now let's see what our 7th ranked in state basketball team can do.
