Mine would have to be Lyle Leong from the Abilene High Eagles. He runs a 4.2 and has a full ride to Texas Tech.

Remember there is track fast and there is football fast. As Jerry Rice said when asked why he was faster with pads than without.
He said " There wasn't anyone chasing me without pads"

Brandon James from Cuero ran 10.43 FAT 100 meters at the Texas Relays last year. Fastest 100 meters all classifications in Texas. He ran 21.25 200 meters to win the state track meet. Anchor leg on 4x100 and 4x200 state champion relays.

No doubt who the fastest kid in 3A is.

Do any of these kids have any size or just speed? Not everybody who is fast is good. The fastest guy for BH last year hardly even played.

How often do players run 100 meters much less 200 meters on 1 play in a game?

Very good point right there and it's why I'm going to just let my fact-based assertion about McNeil being the fastest kid in the state go by the wayside and just let him prove it himself. I've been talking to myself I think on that one based on some of what I've read. I guess I'll have to start saying he has the fastest game-speed of any player in the state of Texas.

good point Keith, but the question didn't have any variables in it.. it was just a simple question as to who was the fastest :)

Too bad those dont count in Football.....How fast can he hit the holes before they close??...thats what really counts.....Skye Green from Sweetwater is right behind him in all those categories and can hit a hole on a rope.

The question was who is the fastest kid in texas football? In no place did it say something about other variables involved. However, I would like to see anyone outrun Brandon James on any surface (track or field). The kid is absolutely amazing when it comes to his speed and there should be no argument. Granted, some will call me a homer poster but I myself would attest for any kid with those times. He has the proof and hardware to back it up. I'm sure the Skyler kid is faster than most anybody himself but the numbers for James speak volumes.

My bad, the kids name is Skye. I didn't mean to butcher his name like that. Later.

if i remember correctly brandon james beat skye by a fraction of a sec. last year so they are about equal but none the less a win is a win and james is quicker

Cuero's Brandon James...

I think there was a couple of guys, may have been 4A and 5A that lit it up faster than James through the track season... really wish he would have ran the 100, but I guess the coaches saw a strategy with him running the 200, I think because we already had 1 or 2 in the 100 and felt James could win the 200...

S. McNeil (Dallas Madison) won the 100m last year, Skye Greene (Sweetwater) was second and Cordero Grey (Kennedale) was 3rd. You can say all you want about track fast vs. football fast, but after TRYING to catch McNeil on the field, I really didn't notice too much of a difference.

yeah the relays get more points so they took him out the 100 and substituted a relay and it payed off....he would have won the 100 by far in my opinion

didn't 10.3 win it? and you think he would have won it "by far"

RoTex4Life

ok when i said by far i didnt mean he would win by 10 freakin yards...its the 100 it would have been close but im saying in my opinion he would have won it

Gotta go with Skye Green on this one... Don't know Brandon James but if he can outrun Skye then on all accounts he has my vote

Diocletian

speed is over-rated but i agree that many of these choices are correct .....it's really kind of hard to pick a player because the speed we are talking about is with pads on, which we all know is not documented as much as training camp 40y or 100y dashes......with the occasional track meet scores as well

so if it's football speed you would have to factor in strength and agility......with the pads on your manuvering is slowed and weight is increased ....but some can overcome it and still run a 4.2 or 4.3.....but not many

Well your only allowed to run in 3 events and 2 feild events. So I doubt he has 4 state awards from the track meet.

But he sounds amazingly fast.

Crabman didn't say Brandon had run in 4 events at the State Track Meet .. Brandon ran the 200M, leg of the 4 x 100 Relay and leg of the 4 x 200 Relay-( 1st in all 3) The 10.43 FAT 100 Meters was run at the Texas Relays.. He is extremely fast..
