This is a big important game for the UT Longhorns against a team that has won two straight and has become a giant in college football.

A Jayhawk was referred to in the Civil War as a Kansas raider that raided Missouri who was mainly a state in sympathy with the conferderate causes. Missouri would retalliate and they were called raiders. The most infamous was William Quantrill who was supported by the Confereate Army. However, Quantrill went to far at the Lawrence, Kansas massacre and even the South went after him as well as the North. Captain Wes of the Confederate Army was sent to infiltrate the raiders to set them up for an ambuse to end Quantrill's reign of terror. While undercover in Kansas he met and fell in love with Sue Walters. Before he could finish his undercover work (he had worked his way into Quantrill's confidence) he was captured by Union solders and sent to a POW camp. Upon his release after the war he returned to Kansas to Sue to be married. Quantrill continued his raiding after the war so Wes was approached by the Uniorn Army and asked to use the confidence Quantrill had in him to set up an ambuse. This Wes did and on May 10, 1865 Quantrill and his raiders were ambushed and during the battle Quantrill was fatally wounded and died about a month later. Wes returned to Sue and they were married and lived their lives in peace and happiness. His contribution to the capture was kept secret which was fine with him due to safety and privacy reasons.
