How good is Palestine this year? How do they compare to last season? What offense are they going to run? We totally fell flat last season and hope to make a better game this season. We have no offense, but do have a decent defense if the offense gives them any time off the field.

He is being honest. Their offense is not good. Palestine will whip them.

Fans like me? I have been open and honest about our squad all year. So I am supposed to be totally unrealistic and talk smack just so folks like yourself can feel good? There is nothing worse than to see folks build their team up and talk noise only to disappear when they get killed. I hope Silsbee does well, I truly do. If you have been to any Silsbee game this year you have to know how terrible the offense has been. Even the coaches have commented on how poorly the offense has been at scoring. Inconsistencies have killed numerous drives. The defense as stated has been stellar at times, but even the best defense runs out of gas if the offense does not help out.

if we start # 3 at q.b. we will have a chance, defense is very tough i would put them against anybody if offense gives them time to rest for a few minutes, unlike the jasper game, i think we should just hard nose football thursday, run, run, run, let #28 run the ball,he proved what he can do against jasper, they dont get much tougher than them guys!!!!!! i'm behind you boys 100%------go big maroon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed, Calhoun can pound the ball in the rb position. That kid has some heart. Glad to see I am not the only one concerned with the offense. Hopefully we get a good game plan.

BH and Silsbee have the two best rush defenses I have seen in 3A so far this year.

Tiger90,

The main difference between this years Palestine team and last year is that now they have a passing game, which was non-existent last season. Still have lots of speed and lots of depth.

I wasn't at the game. But I'm wondering if he moved the ball so well on Jasper, where was he for the first 3 quarters? Just a question.

Go Tigers!!!

they let him lose in the 3rd quarter, before that he was blocking for the q.b., we have GOT to start # 3 @ q.b. to have a chance, defense can do their job, the offense has to come out early and get some points on the board!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well sounds like yall got a coaching problem.

Not so much a coaching problem as it is a consistency problem. I heard someone in the stands make a negative comment on the coaches. Friday was for the district championship, something has got to be getting coached right to be going into week 10 tied for the league title. No one has stepped up and seized the qb reins so to speak. Each qb has had flashes but not one has been reliable. The 1st 3 games it was a steady rotation. After the hurricane the coaches settled on one. Not to bash the kid because he tries, but he has had difficulties. He had an injury or something vs jasper and the young #3 got a chance. Whether he is the answer or if Jasper was having a letdown with a big lead is to still be determined. Would be great if he became the qb and difference maker.

Not at all, coaches do an outstanding job. Your always going to have those people in the stands who think they know what there talkin about and yell at the coaches all the way in the stands (these are the idiots who most of the time sucked azz in high school) and think that there kid is the next big thing. Always wanting to criticize the coaches. Silsbee's only problem this year has been not having a QB but # 3 did step up the other night

Everybody knows that the bleacher coaches know a vast amount more about football than those guys on the sidelines. The best plays are called from the stands but those dang coaches never listen. Whats up with that?

Palestine still likes to run the ball and wear teams down. They have 3 runningbacks that get equal amount of carries, they rotate them in and out all night. One that yall didn't see last year is Paul Kennedy (hes a senior, but just moved to Palestine from Palestine Westwood), he reminds me of Jerome Bettis, big kid, hard to tackle. What makes Palestine's offense scary though, is that the best offensive player on the team is wide receiver Leon Mickens, hes a deep threat.

How poorly the offense has been at scoring?? They scored 35, 40, 37, 21, 21 pts in district. Thats an average of 30 pts a game. Get your facts straight.

No offense to the Tigers, but from what I hear, Jasper was starting to sub some in the 3rd and then more heavily in the 4th.

Anyway, I wish the Tigers the best of luck in the playoffs!

Get your facts straight. They have been struggling offensively. Obviously you have not seen the offensive play. Some of those scores are special teams and defensive.

For those of you interested in this game that won't be able to make it, you'll be able to hear it streamed on the web through one of three sites:

www.bigtexassports.com
www.txpn.net
www.texashsfootball.com

You've heard of those last two sites I'm sure, but check out the first one as well.

Yes, I have seen the offense play. That is why i won't come on this board and say we have NO offense, when we do. Is it running on all cylinders...no its not. We are young on that side of the ball.

Silsbees offense will have to do something Thursday, if they are gonna win a shootout with Palestine (who is averaging nearly 40 point per game on the year). Palestine will be the best team Silsbee has faced this year.

For Silsbee to have any success Thursday night the offense has to sustain drives to keep the defense off the field. Yes, Silsbee has a very good defense, but the offense has to pick up more than one first down in the first half in order for the defense to be successful and stay somewhat fresh!
Another thing Silsbee needs to do is to stay with their offensive game plan a little longer than they did against Jasper. I felt like they were trying too many things that they havn't done all year. The second half against Jasper they were successful doing things they have been doing all year, running the veer. And I agree, #3 must see some playing time tomorrow night for Silsbee to have any succcess on offense.
