There are so many great coaches in this state. Which group will give their team the best chance to win each week?

Wylie's Hugh Sandifer.

I know W.O.S staff is quality. Sinton has been undefeated in district the past 5 years. Abilene Wylie staff is very strong.

alot of it has to do with the offseason training that the coaches do... i know sinton has a set offseason schedule they stick with, and each summer, the seniors to be organize workouts at the weight room. it usually lasts a full six weeks... then take time off to prep for 2-a-days.... so in theory of what i have just posted... the kids have to take as much credit as the coaches for their dedication to the program.

I've said this to evryone...I love what Story has done at Decatur...he took a two-bit team and turned it into a Football-town........if it wasnt for stupid mistakes then he would have a ring on his finger, not Sandifer..but i cant take anything away from Wylie, they are a great program w/ an excellent staff

i agree 100%. i went to wo-s, and let me tell you, they have the roughest offseason in the area. the coaches use this grueling plan to #1 weed people out, and #2 make the kids physically AND mentally prepared for anything.

this is the first year that the wo-s players have gone through the rough and tough "cornel thompson and company" offseason. talk about discipline!!!

Wylie. Sandifer and company get results year in and year out. Plus.. you've got to look at the fact that Sandifer has been at Wylie for years. That guy is pulling down some major $$$ at Wylie. For him to stay at Wylie and turn down other jobs you know they are lining his pockets pretty dang well.

In the short time that he has been there, Jeff Cordell of Gainesville has won the ring and compiled a tremendous won-lost
record.

Over a period of many years, I give Dan Hooks of WO-S credit for the best winning % in 3A.

And, Sandifer of Wylie for overall program excellence.

Not only that, but he has revampted Gainesville football, he has done a great job of setting up events for the community to get behind them, and he brings excitement and comitment to a program that was in need of it after our down years in the late 90's

Yeah, I remember in the late 90's we were going to move to Gainsevill after my 5th grade year and I didn't want to for a lot of reasons, but one of them was he told me they didn't have a very good football team.

can I still nominate Bourquin as the best 3A div 1 coach? He sure was "the man" when he was at Graham...you should see the man work an intercom system! ;)

6 for 6 in playoff appearances his last 6 years in Graham
6 plays in the playbook
6 district titles
6 for 6 in losing in the first round of the playoffs...

hmm...see a pattern here???

They had the counter up the middle, the trap up the middle, the toss, the option. That is all out of an I formation. Then they would change to an I twins formation and a play where the slot receiver goes on a slant and the wideout goes deep...the QB spins around and then tries to hit the slot guy on the slant before he gets knocked into next week. Then they had my favorite...the double desperation pass. The qb pitches to a back who pitches to the backup QB lined up as a wideout who then throws all the way back across the field to the QB who is sprinting down the far side of the field.

Yeah...that's impressive stuff! And it works...one time...unless you are Vernon, Breck, Iowa Park, etc. and then it works EVERY time you played Bourquin! :D
