What are everyone's thoughts on this matchup. This is the first time the Raiders will play Hutto, and would like some feedback on what to expect.

I believe Rice can win this one, but they must play THEIR game to come out on top. It was a tough loss to Bellville, so I also agree that they will be ready for a win!;)

Hutto will come out ready to play. They will be fired up after a tough loss to Cameron. I don't know anything about Rice but I'm gonna go with the Hippos.

I finally found Hottos stats so here are the teams and their stats.

Hotto Hippos D-19 8-2 record with losses to Liberty Hill and Cameron in very close games. Offense is very highpowered scoring 37 points and 325 yards per game. 2548 yards on the ground and 710 yds in the air. Defense is also very good. giving up 15 points and 210 yds per game. Hippos look to be tough on both sides of the ball and played in a very tough district.

Rice Raiders D-20 8-1 record with the lone lose coming last week at the hands of Bellville. Offense is scoring 32 points and 355 yds per game. 2100 yds on the ground and 1100 yds thru the air.
Defense is allowing 18 points and 246yds per game.

Both teams are evenly matched on paper. I give the runnig game to the Hippos and the passing game to young Taylor Cook of the Raiders. Defensive edge slightly to the Hippos but i think the Raiders defense will bounce back after giving up several big plays last week.

What are everones thaughts on both teams and why either team should win.

Hutto by 10. Cameron, Giddings and Hutto all strong teams.Either team could have won district.

I think the Hippos win this one. Their defense has been playing lights out the last 2 or 3 games especially against some very stiff competition in Giddings and Cameron. The offense has struggled a bit the last 2 weeks, they need to open it up more. From what I read about Rice they are no slouches themselves. Should make for an interesting game. Sounds like the team that makes the least mistakes will win.

I am going with Hutto. I've been told that they are big and fast. Hutto and Rice both played Giddings(Rice was a scrimmage). Giddings had 5 or 6 turnovers against Hutto(credit the defense) or they might have won that game.Hutto - 35 Rice - 19

Hutto is not as big as some would say.....I've seen bigger teams play this year. I'm taking Hutto in the game for the fact that if it weren't for some dropped passes at crucial times last week, they could have wound up district champs. Also, I don't believe Kerley was 100% the whole game, saw him limping a couple of times due to some crucial blows. My call on this one, Hutto 31-Rice 21

QB Jeremy Kerley hasn't been 100% all season. He injured his ankle in the 2nd scrimmage and has re-injured numerous times during the year. But he is a warrior and a winner. It's gonna take alot to keep him off the field!!!

Well my crawfish business is almost gone now. Ol Delmer suggested that I add heat to them to get them to come out of their holes. I added about 1000 degrees to them. He said cook them in the hole. However he never told me how to get them out. Now they are in the holes stinking. I lost about 4/5 ths of my crop. So I will be able to go to the game on Saturday. Ol Delmer says that those Hippos are big, and Ol Delmer knows big when he sees big. However the Raiders are not worried about that . They have seen big before. If a pegged-legged man can load 3000lbs. of crawfish by himself, then the Raiders can beat a large team. I am going with the Raiders.

D19 is loaded. All three games are difficult matchups for the D20 reps. I look for this game and the Bellville/Giddings game to be great matchups. I hate to say it, as I'd like to see D20 do well, but I gotta go with Hutto.

Hutto by 3.

hutto tends to never get past the 1st round. Hope im wrong but Rice has a good chance to win this game. I say rice by 6 in my head. In my heart, hutto by 13

I'm in the same boat 22. I hate to say it but the realist in me says district 19 will be pulling out the brooms this weekend.

Rice stumbled last week at Bellville. They had a disappointing first half and most of the third quarter offensively, but began a late ralley which just fell short partly because of terrible TO usage. My spread is Rice by 11.

Rice - 35
Hutto - 24

Need I say more? Big, Fat, and Slow......The hippos out weigh rice by many many pounds.....but like everyone always says the bigger they are the harder they fall their running back is big and slow all there linemen are the smallest 205 and the heavest around 300 I think so just remember no one on Rice's defense run's under a 4.8 in the 40 except Raul Esquivel whose killer ball finding instincts make up for .....so the key in this game for rice to win is keep the Hippo's Defense on the field and there time taking offense off the field and they will come home with a win..... but, if they let the hippo offense take over ball control we can say good night cause there huge slow running back their talented QB and there 6'3 230 lbs. reciever will upset us =-) Good Luck Raiders!

Rice 28- Hutto-20

Converse-Judson if the uil site is to be believed. A big truck can lumber along all day long but speed is what really kills - forget the tortoise/hare story. Score quick early & often like Giddings did to Bellville and advance to Round 2.
