I left with about 1 minutes left. Sweeny had the ball and was driving. All they had to do was run the clock out.

It was 3-0 Sweeny at the half.
Stafford scored to make it 6-3. (missed PAT)
Sweeny came right back and made it 10-6.
Stafford came right back and scored on a 4 and 12(?) from the 15 or so. 13-10.
Stafford kicked short and sweeny had the ball on the 42. They scored again with about 2:10 to play in the 4th. 17-13. Stafford ran a few plays before fumbling the game away with a little over a minute to play.


SO unless a miracle happened, Sweeny is in.

Good job G$$, but you might want to tell the Union Pacific Railroad that too. Seems that their sign along the tracks in town has the extra "E" in it too. Never could figure why they could never fix that sign.

I have seen that sign too & always wondered why it has never been corrected. Sweeny people gripe about misspellings, yet it is done right there wrong at the tracks leaving town. I even remember it misspelled in Austin one year at the State Basketball Tourney in the program, yet Sweeny won 3 boys' titles in 4 years from '85-88 & appeared many other times in both girls & boys basketball, track (1 title), baseball (1 title), etc. How does that happen UIL??

Cuero is clearly the favorite & should be. This is a step in the right direction for the Sweeny program after a 4 year absence. It used to be expected to be in the playoffs & make a run, & Coach Z has & will bring that back to the Gulf Coast. All sports will benefit & offseason training will prosper with the newfound faith again. Cuero is a class program with class fans, always have been going way back to the scrimmages / bbq days. It should be a clean, hard-hitting game. Good luck to all teams, esp. 25 AAA teams coming up this week!! Spell your town name right Sweeny so others will follow suit....
