Dallas TV stations breaking in with story on overturned schoolbus just north of Royce City on FM 1777 in Collin County. Apparently 10-12 injuries. They indicate that these kids may be Royce City JV football players. No report of any fatalities.

Helicopters transported at least three players to hospitals -- two to Parkland and another to Baylor in Dallas. As many as 14 players were transported by ambulance to Lake Pointe Medical Center.

There was no word on the hospitalized players' conditions, although a school district representative said the injuries did not appear to be life threatening.

NBC 5 contacted Mike Harris, Royse City Independent School District superintendent, and asked him to describe the severity of the injuries. Harris was driving from a different sporting event and said he was about 20 minutes away from the accident scene.

"What I know from talking with the people that were there, it seems to be they airlifted three kids, I think … (cell phone loses signal) … I think it was pretty precautionary. I was told that everyone on the bus walked off the bus, so I don't think the injuries are too bad. That's about all I know right now," Harris said.

Harris later repeated the comment he made when his cell phone lost its signal. He again said the airlifts were precautionary and that the injured players were taken for observation.

Some members of the team walked away from the crash scene.

The team was headed to face Community High School in a 7 p.m. game at Nevada, Texas, about nine miles from Royse City.
