Then I was right, I would call it Sweet Revenge over the Gobblers cuz it was almost the same score from '85 when Cuero knocked off the Pirates in the first round with a score of 35-7

Nope. I remember T-M making our custodians go and do cleanup afterward. We trashed every stadium we went to that year. No more confetti after hell freezes over and Mathis makes state. :p

that was the year mathis went to state with Tito Villareal at WR, or something like that.... Collavo was only a soph.. and Soza was the QB

That's correct, but it was the O-line and D that got them there.

I believe it was Cotulla we played in the first round last year. Don't remember who Crystal City played, but seems like it may have been our #2.

Just want to let you Sinton fans know that the Hondo fans do not think very highly of the Pirates. They think that the Owls can make a game out of it on Friday night. What do you think Sinton fans? Do the Owls, 5-3 have a chance? They love to talk trash in there part of the world. I don't see the Owls even making it a game. I know that I will be at the game and hope to see a big win out of the Pirates...

Are you sure? Tell me how you came up with a bigger number and I'll change it. I'm sure someone just sent me their estimate.

Now this needs to be a butt on the bench count, not standing room.

Here is an easy formula that will get you close.

(yards of stands x rows x 3) / 2 = capacity

Do the same thing for the visitors side and any extra stands.

Send me your numbers and I'll change the listing. (bob@TexasBob.com)

Hey what's up guys haven't been in here for awhile just been putting that ot, if u know what i mean. Hondo an Sinton is going to be a good game. I remember when Mathis played Hondo that came down to the wire. I don't know about now but when Mathis played them that night those guys were hugh. It looks like they have a pretty good offense pretty balance. thats something I like have a good running game get those safeties close up to the line then start hitting them with those intermidate passes. Sinton good luck better step it up. Hopw yalls coaches get that running game going. Good luck

I appreciate you well-wishes CG.:)
What's funny about the Sinton rushing game is it works sometimes and sometimes it just looks funky. This year it seems to compliment the passing game instead of year's past. Who'd of thunk it? Last time that happened was in the early-mid 80's for Sinton when (Flores?) passed all over SoTX.
.
And Bootsy, I've always liked Hondo football.

Thanks, Just on the home side of by your formula puts Sinton's seating capacity at 4320. Over-all capacity 5760. That's 60yds. of stands X 24 rows x3. Thats the home side. T-M's stadium goes from goal line to goal line and probably has 30 rows. That's just the home side.

boosty, or you a true blue born in Hondo boy? (don't mean anything bad by the question, just curious)
You know, has your family lived there a long time?
There is a lot of tradition there in Hondo, when it comes to Hondo Owl football.
For years when ever I went somewhere in the state, and someone asked where I was from, and I told them Hondo, their response would be, either "hey, yall have the good football team" or "yall have the neat sign, This is Gods Country, Don't Drive Through it Like Hell"
boosty, you and your team mates, carry generation upon gererations of pride and tradition every time you hit that field.

T-M is about 20 miles southeast of Sinton, just inside the western side of Corpus Christi, so it would be about 150 mile trip for Hondo. Shorter by about 10 miles than the last time we played each other.

well hondo is northwest from sinton so it makes sense that sinton would pick a place south from themselves and not care about all the gas the hondo people will be wasting... is there a thing in high school where the home team has to pay for some of the transportation costs like they do in college?

Yes, but that AIN'T exactly halfway, is it? And it isn't between us and San Antonio or Hondo. EVERY suitable facility to the northwest of us is IN the San Antonio area. It's not Sinton's fault there aren't any halfway. So, that leaves only two possibilities why you're in here with this crap, You're either an immature fool that doesn't know when to keep his mouth shut, or you're in here just to start a stupid argument. Either way, it won't be allowed.

This is a great attitude to have. You should be proud of yourself and your teammates. Congratulations on making the playoffs. After missing the last two years, I'm sure you guys are just glad to get to go to the playoffs. Trust me, we know how that feels. I don't care where Sinton plays, I go. I've followed them to Laredo, McAllen, San Antonio, Seguin, Austin, Pflugerville, College Station and many other places for playoff games. As long as I'm able, I always will.

I hope yall have a safe trip to and from, and we're looking forward to the game. Best of luck, and lets all pray for an injury free game.

If Sinton comes out plays well from the start they'll win big. If they start out like they have been Hondo can pull out a win. I'll be a homer and pick Sinton by 2 tds.

I think that Sinton is going down on Friday. Hondo is a damn good team who should have probably could have won the District title. Sinton without no running game will not make it that far in the playoffs. I have to admit that Sinton this year has been and explosive team. Compare to last year where ya did have a good running game in Franco. Have u read the stats on Hondo? Solid on the running game and not to mention the passing game. Awesome offense and a balance offense. Sinton this is going to be ur test of the post season. that stadium has bad memories for Sinton. Last time they loss to Mathis in area. The year went to state. I pick Hondo by 14.

sinton66
11-07-2005, 10:42 PM
Still living in the past? That was then, this is now. Sinton also has some fond memories in that stadium. FYI, of Sinton's 3009 total yds of offense thru 9 games, 1131 of them were rushing. Where exactly do you get Sinton has no running game? Granted we don't have a 1760 yd. rusher like last year, but that doesn't mean we CAN'T run the ball. Don't believe everything you hear at the gossip fence.

we still have RBs that can up and run the ball, as appearant by the Ingleside game...

You guys should have a pretty easy shot at Goliad. Cotulla will get stomped by Ingleside, and Hondo will have their hands full with Sinton. And, unless they have some good depth, they are going to get real tired in the second half. Sinton will be ready.

speaking of OWLS - when we parked at the stadium parking lot in Victoria tonight.. there was a Tahoe parked a couple of spaces down from us and all the occupants were standing in front of the Tahoe looking at something on the ground, right below the front license plate.. We went up to see what was going on and they had evidently hit a BARN OWL (big one too) somewhere on the highway and it had been stuck in between the grill and the Chevy Emblem.. cracked the grill and the emblem pretty good. It was just weird, the Owl stayed lodged in the grill until they stopped and parked, then it fell off.........
