Watersmeet, Michigan has a team called the Nimrods

I simply can't imagine why anyone would name these teams these horrible names.......lol

No offense intended, but I always thought 'Steers' was a funny mascot. A team of emasculated bovine? LOL :D

Especially since neutering usually makes most male animals more docile instead of more fierce.

i got one of watersmeet's shirts...a nimrod is actually a kind of warrior...this team was on those commercials on ESPN

Hippos and Ducks are pretty bad. I actually find Ducks worse.

Nothing even compares to a cornjerker. That has absolutely got to be the worse team name I have ever heard. Can you imagine when they get inside the 10 yard line and the fans start yelling GO CORNJERKER........GO CORNJERKER!!!........I can't even imagine what the cheerleaders say in their cheers.

I also like the Richland High School Bombers in Washington State. They are out near a nuclear factory and their mascot is a mushroom cloud

In Frisco, Texas you have the Frisco Fightin "Coons

The name was changed because of political correctness and they are now known as now as the Fighting Raccoons. I read about them. They said the mascot came out in 1924 and was not derived in any insensitive way but back then they called raccoons shortened coon. However, in today's modern times, it became insensitive when some of the African American children were wearing the T-shirts "Home of the fighting Coons" It hit home for the school board and they changed the staduim name, team name, and repainted the city water tower to the fighting raccoons. I went on to read that they are hoping through time that the new name is adopted and the old one forgot.

When I played in Kansas, there were some funny NAIA mascots.

Bethel College Threshers(I think it has something to do with corn harvest)
