I've been a contactor who worked for them, as a company they have no scruples.

NO kidding!! My ex-husband is also a contractor working on their plant(s), I've heard some horrible things about what goes on in corporate offices.

Ya know it's sad...that America has to go broke to make a handful of companies rich. I hate inflation!

Just saw gas is down to $2.09 here. That's down $1.10 since Katrina. Now, if we could just get it down another $1.10! :D

With California, Oregon, Washington, Florida and most to the East Coast refusing to elect politicians that will allow drilling off their coast and stopping all efforts to build or enlarge refining capacity; its a wonder gas is not $ 5.00 a gallon as it is in many parts of the world.
We have to have some sanity and drill in other locales. Drill any turdra in Alaska-- and we can do it safely!
I attended an alternate fuel development Conference/seminar for my county and there are bureaucrates that are being rewarded for stopping and/or slowing down the development of new type energy infrastructures and or trying to undermine the new Energy Policy thrust that are being developed.

Personally, I don't care if fuel went to $ 20.00 per gallon in the states mentioned above. The Hollywood elite want it all there way with no local oil development. Apparently there are many irresponsible people in those states.

OC, recently Gov Bush has somewhat reversed his stance on platforms off the Florida coast. He stated that times have changed and require different policy now.

Hang on a second... Here, it's $2.09. So, 2.09 - .80 = $1.29 :D

Let's see. If I can have Alfred make modifications to the Larry Mobile to hold ?? gallons, nope probably wouldn't work. I like your price better than mine, but if it drops below 1.90 in West Texas you can say you told me so.:D :D :D

The next time you drive down the main road in your home town, take a real inventory of the business' down the street wherever you are. You will find most of them are gas stations, maybe a mechanic shop, a car dealership, or maybe an automotive store. The only other thing you will find along any road in America is a fast food joint. Our entire economy rest with oil. Oil drives the train in this country. It has so for the last 100 years. Imagine all those places I just mentioned going away overnight by the discovery of an alternative fuel that doesn't cost anything. Our economy would sink into a depression that would make the 1930's look like bullish times. Millions upon millions would lose their jobs. I would even bet many of you have worked in the refineries down there. We complain at the oil companies because they make a profit, then complain about the high prices, but yet we have all these eco nuts that won't let us drill nor have we built a refinery in over 25 years. If we started building a refinery today it would take us 10 years starting right now. All the while the cleanup on these messes is costing us billions. There is no easy answer to this solution because you would have to come up with another source of income to drive the economy. Until you do that this will not end.

Too many environmental fruit loops to impede the process

My son works for ExxonMobil in Beaumont, and he tell me that their Chalmette refinery (the one that got a direct hit from Katrina) is one of their main Gasoline producing plants. It may take up to a year to replace and repair everything there.

I work for the Nations largest refiner. We made 200 mil at one of our plants last month. It is a great company, but they sure could cut us a little break on gas and diesel.

Diesel is much cheaper to make. But why does it cost more. Because BIG Brother knows you will pay for it.............

If just one company would offer gas and diesel $1 less per gallon all others would follow suit. This couldn't be a one week deal. They would have to hold on to it, but other would follow. Supply and demand. If you quit buying it they will sell it cheeper.

They first blamed it on the war. Then it was something else. Hell, next it will be El Nino or whatever.

And as far as the Californians......... They all act like tree huggers, but only a few really live it. Everybody owns a HUMMER.

When Katrina hit we almost shut our plant down because we had no place to put the product. It is a bigger chain then most people think.

Just know this..... All politicians are crooked. Doesn't matter if they are Republicans or Democrats.

We've got a Larry-Mobile! :D I won't know what gas does in West Texas. Only what it does here. I wasn't saying I thought it would go down another .80 to 1.00... Just hoping!!! ;)

It's down to $2.01-$2.04 range at a few stations around here this morning. I got it for $1.98 this morning with a discount card from one of our local grocery stores (that also sells gas).

We also have a Larry Mobile (not sure if everyone else knows our super hero), I'm just like you I hope it will get back down in the 1.50's just don't see it. I have never figured out how gas is always higher here than most other parts of the state when we are right in the middle of oil country. The lowest we have seen is 2.33.

I suspect the prices in Texas haven't fallen like they have here (KS) because of the refinery damage from the hurricanes. I believe the gas we buy here is refined somewhere different than where it is refined for the gulf coast states region because we use a different blend. I think ours is actually refined somewhere in the midwest.

It is hard to not be political on this issue!!! My anger is not focused only on the oil companies...it was predicted that this is what big daddy would allow to happen.
