WTH?? How is this home field advantage if the Commissioner (and his "staff") make the final decision, based on weather, if the roof stays open or shut???

Quote from today's Caller Times (article by Jaime Aron-AP-Houston)

"If it's a nice day and no chance of precipitation and it's not overly hot and humid, yeah, we'll open the roof," Solomon (Jimmie Lee Solomon, executive VP of baseball operations in the Commisioner's office) said from his office in New York.

WHAT A LOAD OF GARBAGE!!! :flamingma

SEE HOUSTON WEATHER (http://weather.msn.com/local.aspx?wealocations=wc:USTX0617) the difference is that the Astros want the roof shut no matter what the weather is like. This is their field and they should be the ones to determine whether or not their roof is open or shut, not the MLB. What good is home field advantage? They know their fans will "bring the noise"!!! :D :D

Because that is part of the home field advantage. The astros had to go to Chicago and play in the freezing cold rain. Now the sox should have to come to Houston and play in the extremely loud Minute Maid park with the roof closed!! It makes it louder in there. I went to game 3 of the NLCS and it is unbelievable how loud that place is with the roof closed.

Yep. I suspect it may give some sort of psychological advantage. They had it closed throughout the series against St Louis.

Some stats from an article I was just reading...
---------------------------------------------------------------
The Astros were 36-17 at home when it was closed during the regular season, 15-11 when it was rolled back and 2-0 in games that began indoors and finished in fresh air.

Here's the article I was reading...

It appears that the players really think it's an advantage. If they think it's an advantage, then it really is.

To me, that's what homefield is, and should be....HOMEFIELD! The Home team should have the control over their own stadium. How about they go play the game in the Dome?
