Does anyone have any predictions on this game?

it is going to be a very good game...the hawks are tough at home..this is going to be a defensive game..and probably just as good if not better then the game against orange grove..look for justin ramirez to make some connections to sanchez and look for lozano to rack up some yards...but not very many...this is gonna be a close one....hawks by 7

If we play the way we played against Orange Grove, particularly the offense, I got to give this one to West Oso.

I'll play the other side here since there are no WO posters here.
WO is much improved this year and has a special group of seniors that don't give up. Very well conditioned athletes.

West Oso may play without the services of Dominic Whitehead, their do everything RB/LB. I read that in the CC Caller. Injury last week and didn't play.

If Whitehead doesn't play who knows what will happen? He's one of those rare players that can make a huge difference in a game.
If he doesn't play then I retract my prediction and say NL...

Should be a good game. If its close in the 4th quarter the Hawks chances are very good. We are very tough at home!

Yes, he's a hoss. They still have some nice team speed, but he's the defensive captain of that team I think.

yeah i belive so
oso was really good last year also with vernon dixon...the hawks took them lightly last year and almost lost...with the ejection of their starting qb orlando martinez

if zapata wins the win be the 31 aaa district champs but if they loose....oso has to beat orange grove for the crown....but if oso looses there will be a 3 way tie for the crown

lol....I knew you would like that! :D

Since you took out Orange Grove last week, you made a believer out of me. I also think the homefield advantage is huge, with two closely matched teams!;)

yes mam, the hawks are very tough at home and the crowd is one of the biggest i've seen.....even at away games there are more people on the zapata side then there are on the home team...the support really helps the boys out

I went and watched Zapata vs Sinton last year in the playoffs at Cabiness Field in Corpus Christi.....you are absolutely right...there was a huge Zapata crowd with alot of enthusiasm in the stadium. Your band was really good too.

I was impressed since it was such a long drive for your fans.

you're right it is a long drive but there isn't really much to do in zapata so people just wait for friday night and the town is pretty much a gost town for those couple of hours

Aransas Pass is probably alot like Zapata except on the coast. Friday night football is fun, but we haven't had any huge successes for quite a few years...so you don't get that atmosphere that ya'll have.

As for the town in general...lots of fun stuff to do if you enjoy living on the water. Fishing, duck hunting and kayaking are the main pastimes locally and the Port Aransas Beach is just 15 minutes away. It is a pretty nice place to live.:)

lol....spring break is the one time I avoid Port A...the traffic is so bad, you don't plan on going anywhere unless you can make a righthand turn to get there.

Doesn't Zapata have a big lake and host a fairly large fishing tournament each year?

AJ_2005
10-27-2005, 02:25 PM
yeah its gets pretty big but the lake has decreased in size very rapidly....but i haven't been there in about a week so may be the level went up....hows the weather over there right now?...

I don't know, probably low to mid 70's, but very overcast. Looks like it could rain, but we need some.

the prediction over here was for some rain...but not a drop. our weather guy (heatwave) was wrong again..what a shocker

didnt ZAPATA go from 3A to 5A in the late 90s? that was because, best i recall, to go 4A the travel would have been too far. so they got lumped in with Laredo schools.

question is - COULD they have gone 4A and just done the long travel or did they even have a choice?

AJ_2005
10-27-2005, 02:51 PM
the closest schools if zapata would have decided to go 4a was roma and all the other schools in the valley....but i guess it was decided that zapata would go ahead and go to 5a for a lil while as an experiment....to see how it goes

elcabezon
10-27-2005, 05:30 PM
I was in school when the jump to 5a took place. We were BARELY up to the minimum 4a enrollment. The district that we would've been in would have meant 3-4 hour trips to most if not all of our district opponents. I don't think that Roma was a option. So in our infinite wisdom we decided to go up to 5a and only travel an hour to get our butts kicked instead of 3-4 hours. You see back then we where as tough as Progresso is right now. Well maybe not that bad but close.

If we were to have a chance of going to the playoffs...Sinton will need to win tonight and then we must beat Mathis next week....

Even then it might be iffy....given the Goliad factor...:nerd: :D
