The giant HS Softball tournament, at Ford Park, envisioned for Beaumont, TX(Feb 19 through Feb 21) has been downsized a bit. At present only 28 teams are registered to play--Anahuac, Barbers Hill, Bridge City, Buna, Cathedral Christian, Deweyville, East Chambers, Hamshire-Fannett, Hardin Jefferson, High Island, Huffman Hargraves, Jasper, Kelly, Kirbyville, Liberty, Little Cypress-Mauriceville, Port Arthur Memorial, Newton, Orangefield, Ozen, Pineville LA, Port Neches-Groves, Silsbee, Sulphur LA, Vidor, West Orange-Stark, West Sabine, and Woodville....Thur./Fri. $5.00 adults & $3.00 Students(each team guaranteed 6 Pool games). The top 8 finishers play Sat. for 1st-6th and consolation...Sat. will be $4.00 adults & $ 2.00 students STARTING TIMES Thur.& Fri. 11:40 am...Sat. games 8:30 am and 10:30 am....The games will be at the 12 fields off IH-10 at the Beaumont Entertainment Complex(Ford Park). Hopefully next year they can invite enough teams to fill game-site diamonds at the other 15 softball fields nearby(or even add the 8 HS softball diamonds in the general area)! For further info: e-mail Bridge City: http://www.escf.net/bcisd (http://www.escf.net/bcisd) Hamshire-Fannett: http://www.hfisd.net (Go to those HS's websites for the Tournament Pool Schedule on Monday, Feb 9th)...I have no idea if there if there will be any other openings for other teams... It's a start toward a yearly big bonanza kick-off Tournament for Texas and Louisiana. I have no idea how many College Scouts will show up...

It sounds like a great tournament Old. I wish Sinton could compete because it would enable the team to play against teams from other parts of the state and La. I guess the distance and expense rules it out plus some of our key players are still in hs basketball.
