Brian Christian a junior from Decatur is quietly putting up big numbers under the great shadow of Shipley.

Don't forget about the QB thats throwing to him (Chandler Dane) He is a Jr too. They have been putting up these kinda numbers since they were Soph. They should go deep in the D-2 playoffs

Just imagine what the Dane+Christian combo is gonna do their senior year.

Shipley 59-1265 20 TDs
McGee 122-197-0 2348 yds 29 TDs

Just put those up for a comparison. Sounds like we'll have another tandem to talk about next year.

Just wondering...what were the stats for McGee/Shipley when they were Juniors? I suspect that their stats are better this year than last. Might provide a differnt perspective if we look at what they did as Juniors and compare JR year to JR for these two sets of guys. Can someone from Burnet help with this?

What are Dane's stats as far as comp/att/yds/ints? I was just wondering how often Decatur throws the football. Dane and Christian will be really fun to watch next year, as they will both probably be heading to the record books.

Ok,I just pulled out my Dave Campbell's 2003 Texas Football Magazine. Page 262 McGee/Shipley : One Last Hurrah, by Bill Martin.

It states : In 2002, McGee (6-3 200) passed for 2,841 yards and 34 touchdowns and ran for 10 scores while throwing just five interceptions. In two seasons as a starter (2001 & 2002), he has thrown for 4,670 yards and 54 touchdowns.

Shipley (6-0, 180) caught 79 passes for 1,717 yards and 15 touchdowns. As a defensive back, he intercepted seven passes and returned three for touchdowns. He scored six different ways. Against Austin Reagan last fall (2002), he scored from scrimmage, on a reception and on punt and interception returns. Shipley was the only player to be named to the 3A allstate team on both offense and defense. He was also named Central Texas Player of the Year.

McGee was District 25 3A Offensive Player of the Year, All Cen-Tex and all-state.

Just add their stats for 2003 and there you have it.

Just put those up for a comparison. Sounds like we'll have another tandem to talk about next year. You have to also take into consideration that Shipley has been double teamed all year and that Burnet has pulled their starters and put in their reserves after the first half or during the third quarter in all but 1 game so far this year.

Thanks oldawg. Those guys in Burnet are tremendous. If everything I have heard about them including their off field behavior is true, they are young men anyone should be proud of.
