District 29 - the Cotulla Cowboys will be in Hondo to face the Owls. This game has potentially major playoff implications for both teams.

Cotulla, 6-2 (2-1 in district) lost their first game of the season, then not again until they faced district front-runner Devine, losing 19-42.

Hondo, 4-4 (2-1 in district) had 3 losses early in the season to 2-4A schools and Bandera, then did not lose again until they faced Devine this past Friday, 14-24.

Thoughts? Predictions?

Go Cowboys
marron fight, alright,
gold fight, alright,
marron and gold fight,
out of sight!

flashback :D

BTW, game of the week in 32-AAA is Port Isabel vs. Rio Hondo Bobcats. Tarpons win they share the district title with Rio Hondo and Hidalgo Pirates, (PIs 1st district game and only loss) if PI loses then they probably go in as the 3rd team.

Should be a good one, both teams seem to have speed and able quarterbacks. Hondo has had some explosive plays this season, including a 90 something yarder against Pearsall that turned the momentum in thier favor. I think it'll be one that comes down to the wire. Cotulla just needs to eliminate the mistakes that have kept teams in games with them. Cotulla has won their last two games 28-6, 21-0 over Carrizo and Crystal respectively, but there were still penalties that we shouldn't be seeing this far into the season, and turnovers need to be cut down. If Cotulla can eliminate these problems then I think we could have our 2nd straight win over Hondo, which would be something. Cowboys I believed in ya'll last year when some had lost hope, and I still believe in ya'll now. Good luck to both teams Friday night, see ya'll there!

Go Cowboys Go!

This seems to be a part of the state (from 5A down to 6-man) that seems to be forgotten...

I can tell you one thing though, we scrimmaged Hondo my freshman year, and lemme tell ya, they weren't the most talented kids ever fielded, but they were the most hardest hitting/leave it out on the field'n sum biches ('cuse my france) I ever seen...

Hmmm.....let me see. 2 district teams with the same district record; both losing one game to the same team. Both teams are in the hunt for 2nd place in district and fighting it out for a specific playoff route.

Now...."Boring game of the week" would've been Amarillo River Road vs Dalhart.

If yall give them heck like yall gave Devine you will take them by 21. Don't think they will be able to hold your offense.

Oh well, so much for the upset at Barry Field. Still I give the 'Boys credit for putting up a strong showing against Hondo and containing Andy Werner for most of the game. As the radio announcer put it, the Cowboys may be the smallest team we've faced but they are fast and playing tough. It probably would have been closer if not for a quick turnover then score right before the half, but hey, thats football. Then injuries didn't help either.

Now this sets up a showdown between Cotulla and Pearsall for the third and only remaining playoff spot. This rivalary is always a good one, and this year Cotulla has the home field advantage. Cotulla will need to limit the penalties they are still plagued by and stay healthy if they are to beat the Mavericks. Good luck to both teams, see ya Friday Night!

The message for the Cowboys is a simple one. They (Pearsall) are going to try to take something you hold dear. Don't let them do it, not in our house.

Go Cowboys Go!

293A Scores:
Cotulla 6 - Hondo 19
Devine 45 - Pearsall 7
Carrizo Springs 0 - Crystal City 30

293A Standings (OVR) (DIST) (next game):
Devine (7-2) (4-0) vs Crystal City
Hondo (5-4) (3-1) at Carrizo Springs
Cotulla (7-2) (2-2) vs Pearsall
Pearsall (5-4) (2-2) at Cotulla
Crystal City (3-6) (1-3) at Devine
Carrizo Springs (1-8) (0-4) vs Hondo
