District 18 - the Groesbeck Goats will take on the Bulldogs from Marlin.

Groesbeck, 6-1 (1-1 district) needs this win to help secure a playoff spot. Their only loss came to district opponent Fairfield, in what most consider to be an upset.

Marlin, 6-1-1 (2-0 district) needs the win to continue their "undefeated district" streak, that I believe is in its 7th season. Can they hold on to it?

Thoughts? Predictions?

This game could get very interesting. Groesbeck has been bragging that they are bringing the whole town to Marlin and they expect to take a win back home. I have not been able to find any Groesbeck posters that will say this publicly. In week 4 there were comments from Groesbeck that since they were undefeated at the time and Marlin had a loss, that Marlin might be in for a surprise in week 9, when the two teams met. I have sent a pm to that poster with no replies. I have stated on the centex board that I expect an all out war at Legion field on Friday night as the Bulldogs seek to go out in district play the way the will have to play in the playoffs, as Marlin has week 10 off as a bye. Groesbeck has the best defense in Central Texas - as the Waco Tribune Herald defines it - and has held that spot since the beginning of the season. Since I am in San Antonio this week for training, I was unable to check the stats this week and the Tribune Herald does not post those stats online. Groesbeck has told Marlin fans that they will run the ball down the Bulldogs throat and make them like it. Personally, I like a challenge and look forward to see if the Goats can back this up on the field. If Groesbeck goes with the strategy they ran on defense against Robinson - a passing team - of bringing 7 on the line and blitzing, JMo will light up thier secondary all night long. I do not compare one teams game against another, because sometimes you wonder which team will show up. Marlin soundly defeated Fairfield 32-9 and Fairfield defeated Groesbeck 17-7. But these two teams have not met, so this is a whole new game. I expect the dawgs to get at least two stops on the Groesbeck offense and then take over the game, if Groesbeck has to go to the air. Good luck to both teams and I wish we could get more representatives from the district on here. I believe they are browsing, but do not post. For any Groesbeck posters, feel free to respond or state your opnion, as that is all everyone else is doing here.

"Groesbeck has told Marlin fans that they will run the ball down the Bulldogs throat and make them like it."

I'd like to see highlights of this happening. ;)
