It was cold this morning as my daughter (Lady Z Jr) ran a 13.46 for a 5th place finish in district 5 and a trip to Lubbock for the regional meet. Lady Z Jr is a sophomore so hoping for a decent showing at the regionals and to gain some valuable experience for the future meets to come.

Congrats Lady Z, good luck in the future. Congrats PaPa Z, might want to loosen that shirt, don't want to get hit with buttons when that chest swells. We will expect a later update.

2 miles. Zady Z Jr ran a 12.20 two weeks ago, but she said that the cold slowed her down today. I think the entire field was a bit slower as there is an IP runner that won the district with a 12 something and she was dipping into the 11 min times two weeks ago.

To make State it will take about a 12:15 or so over 2 miles. Not Sure Lady Z Jr can do that but she may get close.

Canyon has some really good CC runners that will be in the 11 min range just not sure how many of them.

Congrats to LadyZ Jr. Gotta love the dedication it takes to run cross-country. I love the slogan I've seen on CC shirts - "What some do for punishment, I do for sport"
Hope she advances at Regionals!

Thanks for the info, Z. With the weather like it was it's pretty amazing that there were not pulled muscles. Says a lot about the conditioning of these young men and women.

I have lots of Z Jr's. My oldest is 19 and a college football player and my youngest is 2 1/2 and I can tell you already that she is going to be the best athlete of them all. Then I have two more daughters in between. As a "Family Man" I have been blessed. Really I thank God for all the Joy he has given to me to watch my kids compete.

Looking forward to a lot of great days ahead.

Well Lady Z jr. ran with 170 runners today and finished 83rd. she was a bit overwhelmed at the number of runners but she made me proud. Looking forward to track season and two more years of XC!

Go Lions and Go lady Z jr!

Dana Flyn did great. I think she was 13th. I don't know about the rest of them.

A runner from IP qualified for state finishing 8th.

Congrats to your daughter. I noticed she was just 2 seconds behind the girl from Snyder. Looked like a huge field.

It looked like a Marathon! Lady Z did get a great start and was in the top 20 about 300 yards in until she hit this huge hill and then she faded back. Never could get it together after that. But I was proud of her just making it. I was hoping for a top 50 finish and a good time but she just didn't do well on those hills.

I had a great time watching the race and thinking man I'm glad that is not me out there running!

Looking forward to track now.
