I like it Matt. I think Giddings showed more in that loss than they did by winning the previous seven.

I have to agree they gave Yoe all they wanted and then some!

Looks good, Matthew. One thing, we're 6-1....the VR game was considered a cancellation.

i dont understand why marlin is so low. marlin is being under rated all because of the bellville loss. but out of the top 25 i will bet my last 5 dollars that marlin goes the furthest.

Marlin is just two spots behind Bellville, what's wrong with that ranking?

Maybe both Bellville and Marlin are underrated... but you can't make your case for Marlin without making the same case for Bellville...

And you're just down to 5 dollars? Man... that isn't cool...

Hi Matt--as you know the Polls are all over the place this year.
The one I like-- LOL, is the Massey Poll that rates every team every state by Rating, Power, Offense, Defense & Schedule: They rank all the way through but I am just going to list the first 15..For some reason, I like this Poll LOL

#1 Bridge City
#2 Gainesville
#3 Giddings
#4 Wimberley
#5 Ab. Wylie
#6 Barbers Hill
#7 WO-S
#8 Palestine
#9 Tatum
#10 Cameron Yoe
#11 Muleshoe
#12 Marlin
#13 Decatur
#14 Bellville
#15 Cuero

I will keep you informed when they post a new one--boy, these folks know how to pick'em LOL
They also rate the strongest to weakest Districts-- 24-3A won!

I understand where you are coming from Mr. Cuero. Being rated in first place can be a deterrent-- bigtime. I watched the BC Softball team get that label and then teams were scouting them hard.
On a call that could have gone either way literally the Hardin-Jeff. Coach stomped on to the field screaming "They are #1, they don't need any help!"
It puts you as the team to shoot at and concentrate on the most.
I published this to show how far the Polls are out on various tangents. I just noticed Cuero and BC swapped places on these two Poll.
You just have to play them one at a time and not get wrapped up in any of this as reality.

Like the Temple paper said, "Never wake a sleeping giant." Bellville did that and the Yoemen came out w/ a vengeance 2nd half and completely shut Giddings down. THey did in 2 quarters what no other team has done in several weeks. Scored more than 1 td. Keep in mind, this was done w/ the BACKUP quarterback. When these boys are forced into a corner, look out.

surprised we didn't move down after that crappy game friday night.....we are capable of so much more and like i said earlier.....if we would have been playing a better team they would have taken advantage of our mistakes and we wouldnt have gone home with a win..........none the less good job to the mustangs and hopefully we wake up and start playing like we are capable of and go deep in the playoffs............................

Well, I was glad to see Bridge City finally making it into the poll. Last week we were not even in there. This week, we played anahuac to a 28-10 ballgame and actually got moved up......things that make you go mmmm. Well, I guess it's all good; I thought we should have been in the poll all along.

Where's Atlanta?..I know they are 3-5 but ask anyone in 3A DII playoffs if they want to play the Rabbitts. Either Gilmer or Atlanta will win that region in D2..... Atlanta's losses are to 4A Kilgore by 7, 4A Texas High, which they led at the half, 3A Liberty Eylau in OT, which will prob play for 3A D1 title, 4A Hallsville , and 4A Mt. Pleasant........

they have the roughest schedule in the state... no one willl convince me different

So what if they have the so called toughest schedule in the state!! TWO YEARS AGO IS TWO YEARS AGO!! There are a lot of good teams in D2 like Cuero...dont expect Atlanta to have a nice ride like last time. Oh and if they were to go to D1- they would probably get to the third round before trouble started. I like Atlanta but i just dont think there a team that will make it to state.

I hate to admit it, but you have Barbers Hill way to high in the poll. They are not the same team since they lost their QB. They have remained undefeated because of the weak teams in their district.

Bridge City at #25?? Know how could the eventual undefeated (if they get by WO-S) Division II champs be that low??

Oh the horror..

Surely it is only because of the hurricane and the lack of games played.

Yeah they are 5th ranked if you look at those with 6 wins..

:D

You know it does kind of lay something out. Lets just say for instance they do beat HF by what they are suppossed to beat them by. Jerrys has them picked by 19. So with that they really shouldn't move up in the poll any. Then, as an underdog pull off the upset against WOS who is 2nd in the state. IMO they are number 1, but they would probably only move up around 8 slots. So they would in essence be undefeated. Having pounded K-ville, beat 4A teams, and the #2 team in the state and be ranked around 17th. That doesn't make too much sense to me.

Just like last year, Palestine is a state title contender that is flying under the radar (how can the largest 3A school in the state fly under the radar), but Im glad for it, they will make themselves known come playoff time again.

We will see about Palestine...I just dont see them gettin past the second round for some reason. I feel like they will do like West orasnge Stark and blow it.

They will play WOS in the 2nd round (unless WOS is 1 and done again), so both teams can't blow it, we shall see.

Because the largest 3A school doesn't really mean jack... what you're bringing to the table is what means something...

You were knocked out of the playoffs last year by a team with less than 700 students... but according to you, it should have been a given...

I think palestine is one heck of a team though, just don't expect to see any suck-ups because of your enrollment...

You totally missed the point, im not saying its a given that Palestine wins state every year because they have the most students, but the depth helps. It may be one of the reason that Palestine has one of the best overall athletic departments in all of 3A. You gotta watch out when a team with so many weapons that can play with anyone in the state is flying under the radar, thats what happened last year. Goinging into last years playoffs Palestine was unranked and not given any respect because they had just lost Adrian Peterson (even though they had outscored their district opponents 193-58), but they came out busting heads before fumbling away the state semifinal game against Cuero.

2004 Playoff scores (records of opponents going into the game)
Palestine beat (9-0) Silsbee 34-9
Palestine beat (9-2) Huffman-Hargrave 52-14
Palestine beat (9-3) Waco Connally 38-14
Palestine lost to (13-0) Cuero 27-17

yes of course palestine fumbled it away... theres no way cuero's defense forced any turnovers
