I didn't see it posted yet.... don't know what's going on down there. This one was a shocker to me. At least thought it would be close. Is Goliad getting better? Is AP getting worse? A little of both? And what a monkey wrench in the district race.

The only thing going on in Goliad are the 3 gas stations on the corners of 183 and 77, was unaware they were still playing football...

AHHH YES, do not forget the Whataburger... I hunt 9 miles North of there and that place does me good...

But the best thing about the Whataburger there is watching the old guy play chess with his pen-pal... he'll sit there, look at the board, make his move, write a letter to his pen-pal and wait for his reply...

wonder if he's married?

LOL. That guy's been doing that for at least a decade. We used to have a place out in Berclair (sp?) and we'd always stop at the corner store for an Icee (the Exxon there used to sell the real thing) and at Whataburger for dinner.

Niemeyer passes Goliad past A.P.

October 22, 2005

ARANSAS PASS - Matt Niemeyer tossed two touchdown passes and ran for two more to spark the Goliad Tigers to a 31-7 District 30-3A win over the Aransas Pass Panthers.

In the second quarter, Niemeyer tossed a 26-yard touchdown pass to Joseph Jones with 10:31 left in the half and then hit Morris with a 1-yard scoring strike on the last past of the first half.

Niemeyer added a pair of 11-yard scoring run in the third quarter. Abel Martinez capped the scoring for the Tigers with a 10-yard run with 5:48 left to play in the game.

Goliad improved to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in district while Aransas Pass fell to 3-5 overall and 1-2 in district.

Green Hill scored on a 31-yard run to open the scoring with 4:05 left in the first quarter and Alan Gonzales booted the conversion for an early 7-0 lead for the Panthers.

Niemeyer completed 9 of 18 passes for 149 yards and rushed 14 times for 98 yards. Martinez was the game's top rusher with 134 yards on 19 carries.

Morris had four catches for 83 yards and ran three times for 27 yards.

Jones had three catches for 29 yards and Martinez had two catches for 37 yards.

Hill finished the game with 91 yards on 17 carries while quarterback Michael Tringali had five rushed for 14 yards and completed 5 of 12 passes for 55 yards.
