Back to district 26 for the battle for (or against ;) ) the D1 playoff spot. The Gobblers are taking on the Apaches. (And it's not even Thanksgiving yet. :p Sorry)

Cuero, currently ranked # 1 in the AP poll, amongst others, is currently 6-0 (2-0 district). The Gobblers are led by their QB, Kyle "Baby Blue" Noack (65/93 1225 yds passing, 12 td's, 3 int). RB's Olguin (623 yds, 6 td's) and A&M verbal commit Cooper (187 yds, 6 td's) are in the backfield. WR's Gray (461 yds, 5 td's) and Wesley (292 yds, 3 td's) complete the starting offense.

Gonzales is 4-2 (2-0 district). QB Crozier (430 passing yds), RB Smith (461 yds) and receiver Schautteet (271 yds) are the main offense. *Limited stats available*

Winner will have an automatic spot in the playoffs. A Gonzales win will ensure the D1 spot.

Thoughts? Predictions?

I've got to find another source for stats in that area. My normal ones didn't have them listed.

Trust me, this one will not even be close. 42-7 should about do it. Gonzales is not as good as their record indicates. The win over Yoakum was just the result of two evenly matched teams. What does that say about Yoakum this year? It is a down year for both.

Come on now. Some Cuero posters say it will be close and some don't. No matter, this game might determine your district championship if Yoakum beats yall.:p :eek: :D

hey as long as Gonzo wins one more district contest im content. Cuero scares the heck out of me in DI. If they happen to go DII im their biggest west texas fan.

Voted Cuero. They will win the game.
All Gonzales has to do is win one out of the next three to make the playoffs (which they will be the D1 rep).
Or more likely one of the last two... I think they (Gonz) are at Edna and home vs Halletsville.

Gonzales has improved but not enough offense or defense to hag with Cuero. Gobblers by as much as they want.

Gonzales has very little chance of beating Cuero. Cuero will have to turn the ball over alot. Gonzales will make the playoffs. :eek: :eek: :o :thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

i know that cuero is good.

i havnt seen any of the apaches since last year.

i say cuero by a bunch....my wife who is a gobbler says that gonzales usually plays cuero close...rivalry thing.

BTW if you ever are in Gonzales...stay away from the APACHE INN.

nastiest roach motel i have ever stayed in.

I think Gonzales went 2-5 in district play in 1998... Cuero went 6-1... the one loss came from Gonzales... Cuero went to the state finals, Gonzales started shooting round-balls, but when you play against Gonzales IN Gonzales, I don't care how bad they are, they play 20 times above their talent there... add to the factor that they're playing Cuero and it just never a guaranteed stomping for quicker/more talented/ better coached Cuero team...

May have been 3-4/4-3, actually... do not believe they lost to Edna and they may have beaten Luling as well... Just know they didn't beat Yoakum, Industrial or Hallettsville...

cuero...hopefully...i don't want them to go D2......but gonzo is overrated from what i have heard....then again thats beyond my knowledge..little too far south for me!

I still remember when our field was spray painted by Gonzales years back and last year the girls visitor's lockeroom was vandalized after the Gonzales volleyball game. I take back my predition and make a new one ......Cuero 56 Gonzales 7:crazy:

about as bad as cuero wants it. but reeves will call off dogs after 35-7 in 4th . usually against gonzo they want it pretty bad.

i seriously want to know what the people that picked gonzales in the poll are thinking...gonzales is gonna get smashed....i say cuero 49-7 just like gobbler grad and the 7 does not come against the starters....i went and watched gonzales and bellville a few weeks ago and i did notice that their qb crozier got faster from last year and he looks like he runs a 5.1 now...lmao

My sophmore year ('98) they hung dead turkeys above the entrance to our stadium (looked as if they were actually wild turkeys that had just been killed)... they also had a bunch of frozen store-bought turkeys laying around the school with Stove Top boxes shoved up their rears...

This is always a hard fought game, especially playing in Gonzales. Cuero leads the series 31-29.

no im not... Clay and I are driving up there. We will probably take off around 3:30 and stop for a bite to eat at this place that Kyle told me to stop at in Cuero... i forgot the name.. I'll get it later... and i think we might go to a Liberty Hill game in 2 weeks or so :eek: :eek:
