October 18, 2005 - (CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas) – Well, if Albert Pujols had the nerve to squash what would have been the biggest party the Lone Star State has seen in years, then by golly Astros’ fans everywhere are duty-bound to unite and join forces to help their favorite team reach the World Series! The Hooks will facilitate this “unity” of Astros’ fans by hosting an Astros World Series Watch Party on Wednesday, October 19th at Whataburger Field.

Stadium gates will open at 7:00 pm Wednesday night, with the first pitch of Game 6 of the National League Championship Series scheduled for 7:28 pm. Houston’s 20-game winner, Roy Oswalt, will be on the mound for the Astros, while the Cardinals counter with Mark Mulder. The game can be viewed on the stadium’s large video board beyond the wall in left field.

The Watch Party will be free to the public, and there will also be no charge for parking. Concessions will be available throughout the evening, and the Hooks plan to open specific areas of Whataburger Field for the event, like the SportCourt basketball court and portions of the Driscoll Children’s Hospital Kids’ Zone.

In addition, the first 500 fans through the gates on Wednesday night will receive a Hooks’ promotional item, and drawings will be held during the game for various prizes, including autographed baseballs by Nolan Ryan, Jeff Bagwell and Brandon Backe.

“We have received numerous calls and e-mails from fans in the last two days suggesting a get-together like this, and you know what, it’s a good idea,” said Hooks’ President J.J. Gottsch. “Many of our fans expressed wanting more at the end of our season, and this is a great excuse to come back to the park with family and friends and feel that sense of community again. And, it gives us all a chance to yell ‘Go Astros!’ as much as we want!”

In the unlikely event of a Game 7 (this is supposed to be a PARTY, so check your negative thoughts at the door!), a “Rock-the-house-and-send-the-Cardinals-packing” Watch Party will take place again at Whataburger Field on Thursday night, October 20th. Don’t count on it, though!

With concessions available at Wednesday’s party, outside food and beverages will not be allowed into Whataburger Field for the event. Loud voices, smiling faces and fans adorned in Astros’ gear are more than welcome!
