The Olde Tyme Days parade was marred by tragedy Saturday morning when a child fell off one of the floats and was run over, according to Hutto Fire and Rescue Chief John Coats.

According to a witness to the accident, the girl, a seventh-grader at Hutto Middle School, died as a result of her injuries.

Fire and EMS units participating in the parade pulled out of line and rushed to the scene of the accident with their sirens and lights on.

A witness on the flatbed trailer the girl was riding in the parade said when she fell of the float her foot became tangled and she was dragged behind the trailer.

The Hutto News will publish further details on this Web site as they are available.

That is awful news. One of those things that you think could never happen but does. Thoughts and prayers are with the girl's family.
