Cuero blasts Luling in 49-point shutout

October 15, 2005

CUERO - The Cuero Gobblers scored 28 first-quarter points and dominated the field with a 49-0 win over the Luling Eagles.

Quarterback Kyle Noack led the charge for the Gobblers connecting on 10 of 11 passes for three touchdowns.

Noack connected with Latrael Cooper on a 13-yard strike and hit Justin Wesley on a 24-yard connection to give the Gobblers a 14-0 lead midway through the first quarter.

Fabian Olguin added a 1-yard scoring run and Cooper finished off the first-quarter romp with a 4-yard run.

Cuero's Quincey Wittington put the Gobblers up 35-0 at the half scoring on a 6-yard run.

Tre Gray, who had five catches for 126 yards, hauled in a Noack 23-yard TD reception to open the fourth quarter and Dominguez Ruiz wrapped up the scoring by returning an interception 64 yards with 20 seconds to play.

Jonathan Perez kicked five of six extra points for the Gobblers, who improved to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in district. Luling fell to 2-5 and 0-2.

This was all they had.

i think kyle threw his 3rd touchdown pass to tre in the second half... i know for sure he played in the third quarter... but i think at halftime the announcer said he had 119 yards passing so 183 might be his total for the game

It probably won't be in the stats but Coop busted loose with some nice yardage for a TD that was called back on a Cuero penalty but it sure was a welcomed site to see him gallop down the field!!!! Looking Good Coop :) QB is making beautiful passes, receivers are making great receptions, RB's moving the ball - DB's defending nicely, and how bout that Kick-off man? - Things are coming together guys:)

The 13 yard TD to Coop was the only passing TD where the ball receiver ran the ball into the endzone, the other passes were beautiful passes into the endzone...

Really impressed with Kyle, the receivers aren't having to break their strides, they just keep running and they know the ball will be in their hands...

And Brandon James still hasn't been let out of his cage...

And wow, what a nice run by Coop that got called back, he sure was scooting down that field...

Best we've played all year in my opinion...

The pass from Noack to Gray happened in the 3rd quarter! Noack didn't play the fourth!so it should be...

Everybody around me noticed that Coopers limp is gone. Forever. Never to be seen again, we hope. On the run he broke, it was for 75 yards. Called back on a hold away from the play. He didn't just break it. He was pulling away with every stride.

Our receivers are not dropping a thing but that is easy when it hits you square in the hands.

Noack is the key.

Kyle is the key but it sure is nice to have recievers like Gray , Wesley , and Whittington along with Rudd hauling those passes in knowing all he has to do is get it close .

Very true. That is one point of concern for the Gobblers. The only other one is consistency. We look great for three drives and then bad for two. Still working on that.

I was thinking the other night about penalties. I cannot honestly remember the last time we got a false start penalty. We go on two and three a lot in the course of a game and we just don't jump. Very good concentration and discipline.

As long as Noack keeps throwing for 70-80% and 200-250 yards per game we are going to be hard to deal with.
