SINTON - Sinton rallied in the fourth quarter to pull out a 33-14 win over Aransas Pass on Friday night to remain undefeated in district play.

The Pirates (7-0, 2-0) used three touchdown passes by Daniel Ramirez, all to Steven Burk to pull away from the Panthers (3-4, 1-1).

Burk, who hauled in scoring passes of 39, 82 and 55 yards, finished the night with 208 yards receiving to lead the Pirates.

Sinton, who has struggled in the first half for most of the season, pulled away again following the same path as in previous games. Ramirez completed 15 of 25 passes on the night for 338 yards, his second straight 300-yard game, but Pirates miscues kept the Panthers in the game for three quarters.

Leading just 13-8 at the half the Pirates would see the Panthers take the lead at 14-13 with 3:59 left in the third when Erik Flores scored from 10 yards out after the Panthers had recovered a fumbled punt by Sinton.

The Pirates would regain the lead at 19-14 when Josh Ring pounded in the ball from a yard out. In the fourth, Ramirez would connect with Burk from 55 yards out, eluding several tacklers during the scoring pass.

Ring closed out the scoring with his second scored as he rushed in from 2-yards out.

The Panthers got on the board first when they tackled a Pirates runner in the end zone to make the score 2-0 in the first quarter.

The Pirates answered in the second when Daniel Ramirez found Steven Burk from 39 yards out, Jason Garcia added the point after and Sinton led 7-2 with 9:20 left in the half.

No. We were losing late in the 3rd qtr and if I remember correctly going into the 4th qtr Sinton was still down 14-13. Who knows what would have happened if AP's punt had gone smoothly. That was the big momentum swing. Snap sailed over the punter's head and Sinton's D tackled him on the 5 yard line. 2 plays later = TD Sinton.

Congrats for the big win! But, how do ya'll stay in the top ten and barely beat an unranked team?? Just saying winning preseason against "lesser" teams shouldn't get you (anyone) a high ranking...the ranking system should start with district....then again, those "lists" are totally useless, except for patting oneself (any oneself) on the back........

There used to be a web site www.rankingsdontmeanjack.com which it were still up and running.

The AP poll is nothing more than a popularity contest. It starts with what the particular team did last year and goes from there. The sportswriters seem to have recognized that Sinton has built a tradition of strong finishes in past seasons since 2001, and are simply betting on the odds of them doing the same this year. You have to remember that these are just opinions of people who do not play the game and most likely never did. I put no faith whatsoever in the AP poll, it is absolutely meaningless. The last game your team plays in a particular season is the "BEST" poll.

Very true! Congratulations Sinton on the win, but I have to tell you...I left your stadium feeling pretty good last night even after taking the loss.

I am very, very proud of the Panthers and the efforts they made last night. They had their heads on straight and never gave up. I think the thing that most of you don't realize is that because of Sinton's winning tradition, alot of teams come in already feeling defeated before the kick-off. It is a HUGE mental factor that has to be overcome.

I have nothing bad to say about Sinton, their players, coaches or fans. (the ref's...now that's another story) I just wish we could take back about 20 of those unsuccessful runs up the middle and done a little bit better on our play calling.

Overall.....It was a very good night!:)
