Yah, let's hear more about what happened...

But I'll add my two cents on the QB talk...

Keenum is a very good QB, seen better, but he sure killed Cuero that night...

To me it is simple with McGee... he was a great QB, but look at the main target he had...

Gunn was good... saw him on film two different times my senior year due to common-opponents plus in person once... He had 4.8 speed but his vision of the field made him seem faster, he knew where to run... had a great arm, not the best, but knew who to throw to and knew how to get it there... he was clutch... very smart QB who beat the mighty Sooners this year...

There is no way keenum is better than Mcgee. Keenum is a great qb and he beat us by hiself really. Yeah Mcgee had a great target but he was a great qb and he will be a great college qb also. I just dont see Keenum becoming better than Mcgee.

GRAHAM — Games aren’t played on paper, and the reason why became stunningly obvious Friday night in Graham.

The Wylie Bulldogs traveled to Graham with a No. 7 state ranking after a dominant four-game stretch to start the season and as heavy favorites.

They left scratching their heads after falling for the first time as state champions — 30-20 to the previously 2-2 Graham Steers.

"This is a great win for our program because we are just starting out offensively with this system, and to put 30 points on the board against somebody as sound as they are is just great for our team," Graham offensive coordinator Jeff Williamson said. "It doesn’t have any special meaning because they are state champs, but it’s just nice that we finally played good."

The Bulldogs failed to score on their first possession for the first time in five games this season, but the offensive troubles stretched far beyond the team’s first series as the Steers had built a 23-0 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

Wylie woke up in the final quarter as Case Keenum found Josh Davis and Matt Smith for a pair of 23-yard touchdown passes that cut the Steers’ lead to 10 at 23-13, but it was too little too late.

The Graham offense put the game out of reach with a 4-play, 61-yard drive that was capped by one of the most improbable plays anyone in attendance had ever seen. Graham had moved the ball swiftly downfield thanks to a 34-yard run by Derek Sokolosky on the backup quarterback’s first carry of the game. Two plays later, running back Jeremy Louder took the ball at the 4-yard line and ran right, where he looked like he would slide down to keep the clock running before being forced out of bounds.

Instead of going down, however, Louder — who was still behind the line of scrimmage — tossed the ball to a wide-open Chance McCoy in the end zone to make the score 30-13 with 2:29 remaining in the game.

But Wylie wasn’t ready to conceed.

A 45-yard strike from Keenum to Gary Edwards again cut the lead to 10 points at 30-20 with 1:55 left. The Bulldogs recovered the ensuing onside kick, Keenum again found Edwards in the end zone, but the touchdown was called back by a holding call.

Needing a touchdown and a field goal to tie, Wylie — faced with a fourth down — elected to attempt a 35-yard field goal that sailed wide left with 50 seconds on the clock to finally seal the game.

Wylie’s fourth quarter surge did make for some impressive stats after the offense struggled to make plays in the first three quarters. Keenum finished the night 18-for-30 with 265 yards and three touchdowns to go along with 101 rushing yards on 18 carries. The quarterback was the Bulldogs’ only running threat, however, as three other rushers combined for 13 yards on eight carries.

Wylie showed the heart of a champion in the fourth quarter, but in the end, a 23-point hole was too deep for even the champions to dig themselves out of.

"We did nothing to swing the momentum early in the game," Wylie coach Hugh Sandifer said. "But I was proud of the way the kids fought back."

The loss isn’t something any of the Bulldogs players or coaches had hoped for, but the outcome is something that they hope can be turned into a positive. After all, the Bulldogs lost three games last season before going on to postseason glory.

"We can learn a lot of lessons from this," Sandifer said. "People get glassy-eyed over our start, but we’ve got a long way to go, and tonight’ll make us a better team, having to respond to a little adversity."

Every team loves to beat the champs, but the win stood to be especially sweet for first-year Graham coach Brad McCoy. Not only does McCoy have ties to the Abilene area after his stint as coach at Jim Ned High School, but he was a college friend of Sandifer’s at Abilene Christian University. That euphoria was dampened, however, as McCoy rushed from the field as soon as the outcome was official due to a serious illness to his father.

"I’m sure it meant something to him because him and coach Sandifer went to school together at ACU," Williamson said. "I feel like it meant something special to him. But his dad got sick tonight, and that is more important than any win — but this one is special to all of us."

Yah, McGee was a great QB, don't get me wrong, I believe he is great... just saying it's hard to tell just how great when his receiver was a total stud... he did however have another receiver he targeted for a 1,000 I think... but if you're focussed on a stud, it's easy for the other dudes to be forgotten/underestimated by the D...

Gunn had the total package, spread the ball VERY well and could run when he needed, very good under pressure... never really saw McGee under pressure, they had a great defense...

uhh no probably s'water is, wylie isnt much of a threat now lol, nah they lost fair and square, so they arent able to claim being the best.

Wylie is the reining state champion right now. & last year Decatur (can't spell it I think) beat Wylie during the season and Wylie came back in the playoffs to win (including beating Decatur in the semifinals or close to it).

Check out Wylie's past records...They usually have one letdown every year, and get hot later on. That year they beat Snyder in the playoffs, they lost to Clyde in district.

I was at the game and Graham just outplayed Wylie last night. Neither team made many mistakes and it was just a good game all around. I am a diehard steer fan, but I will admit that I was very surprised that we were leading 23-0 going into the 4th. Our defense really came to play last night holding Wylie's backfield to only 13 yards on like 10 carries except for Keenum I think. But he still did a good job w/ his legs and carving up the secondary for about 230 or so. Good game to both sides and to Wylie, beat Decatur's tail next week.

Banyard and Green are VERY talented. I hope Sweetwater can overcome the injuries and win the district over Snyder and Wylie.

Wylie is talented as well. I can't wait to see Keenum up against the Sweetwater D in the bowl.

lol...seriously??? Carrillo was a RB who played the QB position. That is how Sweetwater's "QB" has been the past few years. A good athlete??? Yes he is...but not a good QB.

Dude a qb is the leader of his team just cause hes qb doesnt mean he has to pass every down. And when he did pass the passes were effective. He was far better than kennum.
