Since Carthage, Forney, and Jasper go Division I, you'll be able to test your theory at about Week 13-14 in a heads up matchup. What polls besides you have Carthage highly ranked. I haven't seen any. I believe they are under-ranked as well. I've seen a couple of their skill guys at football camps this summer. They looked pretty salty.

If Carthage can hang with Kilgore in week 4, they might be getting some newfound respect.

lol, no way greenwood is above any of the D1 teams. they might be better than bellville who is in the top five, but then again bellville proly shouldnt be in it. dont worry matthews poll will be more accurate than this loser poll. the proof that it is a loser poll is that it had devine recieving a vote for first place. that totally negates the point of its existence as an actual poll.

Matthew, I am glad Carthage is going D1. All the teams I'm rooting for are going D2. As I mentioned I saw 3 of their players at a receiver camp last week. They were top of the line at any classification. Sounds like they have speedy running backs and a big O line. If they have a great QB they could be a force...have you heard anything on their QB? Texas Football failed to mention him.

Gilmer is MUCH better this year than #11 and #15. Just like Rodney Dangerfield, we "don't get no respect" because we haven't won in bi-district the past two seasons. But lookout, the third time's the charm. In 2003, the Buckeyes RULE!!!!

Tsk, tsk, tsk. Guys, this is a sportswriters' poll, not the actual Coaches' poll. I don't know too many sportswriters whose preseason opinions count for much. wink

Carthage's QB situation is we have a good one. Derick Holson JR 6'4 195 4.8 hes got a cannon and makes good decisions.

Sinton66- this may be a sportswriters poll, but it counts as much as the actual coaches poll or any other poll for that matter: it is just an opinion. They make good talking material, but they do not put any points on the scorebord. Every team has to play their schedule, and the toll of injuries and lucky plays can change how well a team fares.

The only major sport in which a poll matters is College Football. And only the big schools at that. At least I-AA and lower have a playoff system. Stinkin' BS....oh sorry. I'm meant BCS... :D
