yeah i was at the game, and i saw that poster. the question that pops in me is "will beltran have hit 40 dingers and hit .320 if he stayed in htown???" one thing ive noticed is that one top notch player went to the mets and was never the same...robby alomar.

Heck, he could have hit 25 to 30 dingers and it would have been great along with Ensberg and Berkman...

Then again, you have to really love Willie T's chances at getting on base/moving Bigg into scoring position...

Blessing in disguise?? I think so! Signing Beltran would of financially strapped the Astros for several years. Beltran wasn't worth that kind of money, even though he had one of the better play off performances in MLB history.

Chances are had Beltran stayed an Astro, Lane wouldn't have gotten a chance and Lane put up just about as good of numbers as Beltran did. And he did it for less than $500,000 a year. Beltran would have gotten something like $20,000,000. Man it's even hard to write such a number without looking back and counting the 0"s. I also liked it last night when all of those phenoms the Yankees signed went down.

It seems that guys with good power who go to Shea wind up becoming average power hitters. I think that park will be what keeps their young 3B David Wright from being a power guy in the mold of a Big Tex or Pujols. It's a pitcher's park and Beltran had to have known this before he signed. I guess that money was just too hard to pass up though.
