Cold front just blew through the big ol' IP. Temps dropped about 30 degrees in about 30 seconds. It's fantastic!! Temps are in the High 60's with a steady north wind of about 10 - 15 MPH. It's finally turning football weather!!!!

It's supposed to hit here about midnight!

I'm so happy....I am SO tired of my "summer" clothes!

(The "girls" will sympathize with me on that)!:D

Me too! The summer clothes are wore out..and you can't buy new ones because all there is is cords and sweaters at the stores.. Being as it was 93 here today..I'll stick with my wore out shorts! lol..

Well there is one good thing about living way up here in the panhandle- it gets cold a lot faster than everywhere else. It's nice here right now, around 50, supposed to drop down to near 40 tonight, wake up with a 36 degree wind chill. I can finally pull out those comfortable hoodies. :)

Great news! Tell it to keep coming South and into the Gulf to cool those waters down so we can stop hurricane season.

The Scores with UT listed first were 30 - 19, 28 - 30, 30 - 25, 28 - 30 and 15 - 9. The Lady Aggies as usual were very tough at home and the Lady Horns had to play great to get the win which they did. Good game by both teams!

Watch what you wish for! One December a few years back, I remember we got above 32 degrees (yes, Fahrenheit) only 6 days... It snowed early in the month and it stayed so damn cold the rest of the month it wouldn't melt off. That same month, the day my wife and I left here to go to Texas for Christmas break... at 5 pm it was 16 degrees.

Lowest temp I've seen here so far is 0 (yes, again Fahrenheit). Lowest wind chill I've seen is -30!

I think the highest I remember is 108 or 109.

How's that for variety? ;)

If there's one thing I miss most about the South Plains and/or Panhandle of Texas, it's actual winter. :(

Several years ago, LHPD & my brother went deer hunting. It was 13 with a wind chill of -6. They got home, freezing to death but thinking they were wusses.....until they found out what the temp was.

One of my most vivid memories of College baseball on the plains of West Texas is a practice with snow on the ground and a negative 24 wind chill. We all thought practice would be cancelled or at the least in the gym, boy were we wrong!! We took batting practice in the tunnels and ran our rears off 2 hours. My feet and hands were solid blocks of ice by the time we finished. Makes for a great memory though.

I miss the panhandle. Wind blowing in from the north, the smell of money in the air (feedlots north of town) and my hair freezing when I walked from the field house to my car. And don't forget hunting for pheasant, duck, geese, deer and coyote. The panhandle was a great place to grow up!
