Thats so stupid why would they wait so long to play a team like Merkel.............They just want to kill them so they will look good....i bet they beat them by 56 and thats srry!!!

Merkel and Wylie have a special little bond when it comes to sports. Merkel is almost always Wylies homecoming. Whop did Sweetwater play for their homecoming? I am sure they werent Merkel bad but I bet it wasnt a doozy either.

Sndyers HC was a 4a team...but they werent good either SA Lake View:D but least we didnt wait to play merkel

to my knowledge merkel hasn't ever played wylie for their homecoming but i have only been around for 18 years

Merkel played Wylie for their homecoming just last year.

And besides, Wylie has to play Merkel any way, so why not for homecoming?

seriously...who do you want Wylie to play for homecoming out of the week home schedule? They opened Lakeview and then had Vernon in the 4rd week of the season...i just think that is too early for a homecoming. The Clyde game is week 10 so it had to either be Decatur week 6 or Merkel week 8. Who in their right mind would take a game that they had a reasonable chance of losing and/or getting embarassed in (see Decatur 44-6 last year) and schedule that for homecoming when you actually have a good team that can win a lot of games??? Yeah...exactly...

merkel didnt play wylie for their homecoming last year they played ballinger

Hey it's not Wylie's fault they have to play Merkel. The UIL requires Wylie to play them. With the "special bond" shared between Wylie and Merkel, you might as well make it Homecoming.

So you are saying that they played Merkel in Wylie last year too?

I thought they normally switched "home for home" every year!

who cares....they are playing merkel and thats one of our biggest rivals no doubt...merkel has a lets dress up rich and make fun of wylie day and wylie has a merkel are hicks day so why not just play for homecoming?? :p

The same reason we (Graham) played 2 home games AFTER a 3 game road trip. Our first 2 games were Wylie and Marlin . . . then we had Hirshi, now I know we beat Wylie, but on paper, we don't win that game. We never win that game. The whole thing with Marlin was just plain GAY, then we had the district bycicle. . . Hirshi, who would you pick?
