Rockdale 21 LG 9.

This is a game LG should have won. Offense was totally out of sync.

Rockdale runs the same type of offense, except that they are in total control, and at least all eleven players are on same page because they huddle.

LG's no huddle is total nonsense.

ROCKDALE - The Rockdale Tigers picked up their first win of the 2005 season on the strength of their defense, defeating La Grange 21-9 on Friday night at Tiger Stadium.

Defensive backs Steven Garza and Dennis Brooks each returned interceptions for touchdowns as the Tigers improved to 1-4 overall and 1-1 in District 19-3A.

Rockdale's defense held the Leopards to 185 total yards of offense and picked off quarterback Matt Woods three times.

The Tigers also had trouble finding the end zone despite gaining 312 yards on offense.

Quarterback D.J. Marek scored on the game's first drive, capping a four-play, 74-yard drive. Marek finished the night 12 of 30 for 225 yards. He also led the team in rushing with 38 yards on 11 carries.

Casey Lane was his most productive receive, hauling in three passes for 71 yards.

Both teams saw a lot of laundry on the field through out the game, combining for 20 penalties for 158 yards.

La Grange falls to 2-2 overall and 1-1 in district play.
