Heisman watch
Star-Telegram college football writer Wendell Barnhouse assesses the race for the Heisman Trophy heading into Week Four:
1. Matt Leinart, Southern California: The 2004 Heisman winner is well ahead of a pace that would set an NCAA single-season record for passing efficiency.
2. Vince Young, Texas: When the Longhorns play at Missouri on Oct. 1, he'll get to match talents with a mirror image in Tigers' QB Brad Smith.
3. Reggie Bush, Southern California: In 27 plays from scrimmage (carries and receptions) Bush has 339 yards -- an average 12.6 yards per play -- and four touchdowns.
Waiting list: Reggie McNeal, Texas A&M QB; Chris Leak, Florida QB; Laurence Maroney, Minnesota RB; Brady Quinn, Notre Dame QB; Sam Keller, Arizona State QB; Brian Brohm, Louisville QB
