The Walter Camp Football Foundation has announced its Division 1-A National Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for games ending September 17.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

REGGIE McNEAL, TEXAS A & M

Senior, Quarterback, Lufkin, TX/Lufkin

Reggie McNeal set a school record with 449 yards of total offense to lead Texas A&M to a 66-8 rout of SMU. McNeal passed for 349 yards (15-of-24) with five touchdowns (15, 80, 68, 32 and 47 yards) and added 100 rushing yards and one touchdown as the Aggies (1-1) racked up 714 yards of total offense in the contest. It is the second time that McNeal has been named Walter Camp's National Offensive Player of the Week, having also captured the honor on October 17, 2004.

u do know that v young could have better stats than that but when UT gets up by alot they run the ball...they dont worry about making the qb look better by running stuff up..lol

I just LOVE seeing my hometown shown some "love" and to be represented so well. Reggie did plenty of running himself in this game, as well as the passing.

I understand that A&M now also has another Lufkinite, Jovorskie "The Train" Lane. Expect to hear some "noise" from him over the next four years also!

Go Lufkin Panthers, kicking butt and taking names right now in 5a! Hoping your undefeated season continues! I still BACK THE PACK! Panther Pride till I die!

Running up stats? Mack Brown is the guru of running up stats to make himself and his players look good. They are killing Rice and he puts his starters in to start the second half and some. Jamal Charles runs for touchdowns like a wild man and he leves him in to get experience? It goes both ways. And UT needs to let Vince pass all game to get better at it...have you seen that form?

i understand why they do it, i just think they left reggie in one more series than i would of liked him to been in, but then he did a one play touchdown to carter

I think you're a confused little man, ro tex.

Reggie was taken out of the game with about 2 minutes left in the third quarter.

There was only one pass thrown the entire fourth quarter. It wasn't a play action. It wasn't any sort of trick play. Just Stephen McGee going over the middle to one of his tight ends.

If there are any more questions about running up the score, here's the play by play. (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/ncaa/playbyplay/2005/09/17/31037_pbp.html) It was all Samson Taylor and Jovorskie Lane up the middle.

do you even let Reggie play and risk injury against the mighty Texas State Bobcats? I might play him for the first quarter...MIGHT!!!!

JasperDog94

I think you can use it as a glorified scrimmage. I'd let him play the first half and maybe the first series of the second just for consistancy's sake.

He might want to be. Young is 19-2 as a starter, compared to McNeal's 12-14.

But on topic, he did play well this past Saturday.
