They play another Div 1-AA team next week in Indiana State - come on now - should they move up in rankings for beating JV teams ??

This is kind of ridiculous - scoring 80 points and will probably do it again next week.

``I think if we play well and we capitalize on every drive, we can score 100 points,'' Hodges said. ``If we can do it, we need to do it next week (vs Indiana State).''

--Texas Tech QB Cody Hodges

I know most teams play scrubs early in the season, and I could MAYBE understand playing one Div 1-AA team, but two ?? Come on now !!!!

You'd never catch a top tier program like A&M scheduling some patsy like that. Oh, wait. We already did.

I love it, i hope they do put up 100. Texas Tech has already shown that they can play with the big boys after beating Cal last year in the Holiday bowl. They will get their fair share of tough games in the big 12 anyway.

sometimes the little schools go to the big schools for games... they know they will get creamed... but they get half the profit from the tickets sold and what not.... or at least this is what my coach told me... and i trust em!

My dad did that also, but Tech scheduled 2 weak teams in a row.

Texas Tech can play all the Division 1-AA teams they want, cuz when it comes down to it, they are still gonna get smashed when they play Texas and Texas A&M

(feels weird saying this, but tech will beat Oklahoma)

Tech has 3, yes count them, 3 patsies this year:

3. Sam Houston State

2. Indiana State

1. Oklahoma

I think I read in an interview with Tech AD Gerald Myers that it was a budget thing. It costs Tech $20k a game less to bring in Sam Houston and Indiana State, than to bring in a mid-tier I-A team like a MAC team or something. Not really GREAT justification, but it makes financial sense.

Tech for Big XII South Champion?

Oh wait...there's some team from farther south that wears orange. I hear they have an above average QB.

Vince Youngs a Quarterback, I always just thought he was a running back that occasionally threw the ball???

Okay, talk about their pre-conference scheduling & the blow-outs if you want. Does anyone remember what Tech did to Nebraska last year? Or maybe TCU?

Thats fine if tech puts up 50 - as long as UT and A&M puts up at least 51 !! :D

After seeing the A&M secondary first hand on Saturday, it wouldn't surprise me one bit. On Marquis Carpenter's first interception, the WR had him beat on a fly but the QB didn't put enough air under the ball. On the second one, it was a bad pass into zone coverage and Carpenter was out of position... he just got lucky.

Tech may have a "weak" non-conference schedule, but when it comes to conference play in the BIG XII, that is some pretty tough competition. After those 1st three you are going to meet the likes of OU (which is down, :D ) TEXAS, Texas A&M, Nebraska, OSU, KSU, Iowa State. These are all tough teams that most opponents don't want to face.
