Why Kaufman won: Trailing 10-7 at the half, the Lions (3-1) went ahead on a 1-yard TD run by Chris Neal with 3:23 left in the third quarter. Kaufman then withstood a late drive by Kennedale (2-1) in the last two minutes. On the drive, Tommy Lee drove the Wildcats as he hooked up with Hunter Smith on completions of 31 and 18 yards. But four plays later, as the Wildcats faced fourth-and-eight at the Kaufman 36, Austin McDaniel intercepted a Wildcats pass with 11 seconds to go. Sheldon Henry shouldered the Lions' offense with 18 rushes for 137 yards and one TD.
Kennedale's defense recovered three fumbles.
Kennedale's Mickey Norris and Lance Canter, rushed for 104 and 97 yards, respectively.
