Dang, if Miller could just get a good coach in there they'd be competing for the State Title every year. They have ten times as much talent as Carroll but get beat like a redheaded stepchild every single year.

They should, but they could contend in 5A. They have D1 talent stashed in the janitors' closets over there. I remember a few years ago (2002, maybe?... back when Jeremy Breedlove was still playing) when they made the playoffs they finally got some scouts at their games four players got D1 scholarships and quite a few more were spread out between TAMU-K, Hardin-Simmons and SE Oklahoma.

They're a 4A team that has more talent year-in, year-out than Bay City. They could compete in 5A if they just got disciplined and focused on football (and got a coach who would utilize all that talent).

They remind me a lot of WO, but better.

Miller has a new coach- Kenny Wheaton and is turning the program around!

Wheaton was last a head coach at Nacogdoches until 1999 and most recently was offensive coordinator at Henderson State in Arkadelphia, Ark. In 2003, Henderson State ranked second in Division II in rushing per game.

"He's very intense and very dedicated," CCISD athletic director Rick Page said. "He has a program he helped develop that involves discipline, attention to detail and getting the parents and community involved. He has had success with that program everywhere he's been. Those kinds of ideas are what we need at Miller right now."

Good for them. Maybe CC won't be the armpit of 5A Texas HS football anymore.

Between Miller (could be a great team), Victoria Memorial (could be a really good team), and Carroll (probably better than most 5A third place teams) they have the horses to do it. Moody will always be a baseball school (see Robstown) and Ray and King will filter in and out. But those first two schools have tons of talent not doing anything.
