What league do you guys play in youth football? We play in PopWarner out of Corpus. The only 3A team in our league is Mathis. We have several 4A teams Gp, Calallen, Beeville and Flour Bluff. PLus, 4 teams from Corpus and a team from George West. I would be nice to play smaller towns like our own.

They changed the name up. Now its called the "New Bay Area Youth Football League. It's still the same league, just another name.

nope russ, they started their own city leagues after about 2 seasons a piece.... im iffy on beeville, but rockport left when i was a kid... i'll ask my dad, he is hte head official for their league..

My understanding is that Beeville went Pop Warner.

and a good league it is! many kids have gone through that program and are so much better prepared when they hit 7th grade!:)

I used to play against both of those teams. I remember when Dat Nguyen was the stud RB for the R-F youth team. That was the team to beat back in the day. Hell, they were the team to beat when Dat got into HS, too.

But they're not! I have never been so pissed as when probably 3 years ago we went over and played Rockport and I had to pay $6.00 at the gate for my 5 year old! That was before prices went up and everyone was still charging $2 or $3. The lady at the gate promptly informed me that we were playing at a 4a school and that it was a standard price for 4a's to pay....after all look at their stadium, stands, sound system.......:mad:

We won that game which gave me a little satisfaction, but I have to wonder if they are filling those expensive stands of theirs these days.:evillaugh :evillaugh :evillaugh

i can remember when i was in the league... we rattled off about 12 straight team titles for both sinton divisions... man, that feeling of getting the trophy at the end of the year was great...

When I played we got it three years and Odem got it the other. I wish the Odem kids would've realized they weren't as good as we were when they got to HS. Never listen to anything.

I graduated HS in 98. Back in the late-80's and early-90's it was all about Odem and Beeville in my age bracket. Then Odem went on to win like four or five district titles in the mid-90's. We were picked first or second in the district every year from like '94 (my freshman season) until '97 (my senior year) by the Caller-Times, but only made the playoffs once.

Had more speed and more talent than most teams can shake a stick at my junior year (our 4X200 relay team got second in state, one guy got second at state in the 200, fourth in the 400, our second team relay could've made it to regionals).

Started fast out of the gates, taking out 3A #11 George West, blew through our first five games and came within two votes of climbing into the top-10. But somehow we managed to blow it against bottom-dweller WO in week 6 and never recovered. We finished the year losing the final three games to you guys, Odem and Goliad.

But not all was lost... we did beat AP 6-0 so we did have a good year.:D :D :D
