I love it...

It is a pretty good system though... no popular vote etc... just straight up strength of schedule mixed with a bunch of other things...

i have this site in my favs and check every week. this guy is MOST of the time pretty close. he gets his point spreads from the difference in rating numbers. i don't know if he factors in anything for home teams .

I was liked this guy ratings until Bellville went ahead of us. Bellville is VERY good and should be either 1 or 2 spots behind us and all but we did beat them, also Devine being ahead bothers me.

He prolly hasn't seen 'em play... Heck, I haven't seen Yoe play since '98/'99 when we scrimmaged each other...

But I will say that your being 'bothered' by Devine beind ranked above Cameron Yoe is going along the lines of the "Holier than Thou" crap... and that's not cool when you have not even seen the other team play... Heck, it'd be more understandable if you had at least heard bad things about them or they were 0-3 against usually weak teams...

It's cool to make predictions that one side is wrong and that one team is better etc..., but to be bothered over a ranking? A ranking SYSTEM at that?

The only reason it bothered me was we were ahead of both of these teams and then we win and we drop 4 or 5 spots.............. Im not really bothered more of a slightly confused

the reason u can drop quick several spots is that its base on several stats, so if ur team dont perform well in the stats and the teams u played dont do good also, somebody else that had good stats game can pass u up. Its like any other poll though, theres never going to be satify fans. Best poll is the last poll at least for the winnner:D

i personnally kinda like this poll but it does have its faults. when the season was over last year gilmer was #2 and wylie was #3. problem was decatur was #1 and by about 7 or 8 percentage points. last time i checked wylie took em down. but still, its another poll and it gives us something to talk about.

This is the site I was talking about in the chat last night. Back in 2002 when we were highly ranked, we dropped several spots because of Presidio dropping out of football. Our score was 2-0 for that game.....and it ended up affecting our ranking negatively!

I have been following texasfootballrating for the past three years and it is good, just have to understand the statistics. I know that Cameron beat Bellville and Bellville beat Marlin that would logically put Cameron ahead of both teams. I have this issue explaining the grading system to students. They make a hundred on an assignment, which means that it should raise their grade. However, it depends on the weighting being used. If the 100 came on an assignment with a weighting of 40% of the grade the 100 will raise it by more. If however the 100 came on assignment with a weighting of 10% it does not affect the grade as much. Marlin began the season with a rating of 169 Cameron with a rating of 158 and Bellville with a rating of 154. Cameron played Franklin and was picked to win by 49 and won by 54 their rating went up to 161. Marlin was picked to win by 15 over Bellville but lost by 3. Bellville went up 7 and Marlin went down by 7. Marlin now has a rating of 162.37, Bellville a rating of 161.72, and Cameron a rating of 161.43. The point spreads are based on the difference in the teams' ratings. For example, Cameron has a rating of 161.43; Manor has a rating of 143.92. Subtract the two and that will be the point spread Cameron has to cover to keep their current rating, winning by at least 17 points. Anything less and they will drop. Anything more and the rating increases. Factor in home field advantage and the opponents strength of schedule. I do not know the exact formulas, but it should be something similar.

Might have affected your ranking??? What was your ranking then, and where did you finish in the State that year??? Didn't you finish 2nd in the state???? I believe you were a play away from number 1 in the state. These mid-season rankings are great, but its the last one that matters.

Even if you don't like the rankings this site has some good information, i.e. schedules, scores of game played, and other things , for every team in the state.

I don't think anyone will satisfy ro_tex_solja unless you give Cuero the trophy right now. Let's just forget playing the rest of the season.
